Default Newbie Q regarding Carbon.

Hello there,

I would like to ask you 2 Qs regarding Carbon.

I noticed that there are Carbon covers but I have also heard about people saying that it looks so fake etc.

I was wondering is the Carbon cover a fake way to have carbon on your car and there is also real carbon which costs like a ton more to make a few car parts with? Or am I totally wrong and it is only a cover?

Yeah you can laugh at me I have no idea :P

Thanks!

Can you be more specific as to what cover you are talking about, I think they say it's fake carbon because it didn't replace the panel it just covers it, but even though the material that is used us real carbon

The flat thick CF overlays regardless real cf or not will look pretty cheesy as you will be able to tell its stuck on there with tape. You need to get one that physically wraps the pieces where the wrap and trim appears to be one piece.

Most carbon fiber pieces are wrapped in CF, with some other material underneath. A quality wrapping job typically looks pretty good. Stick on stuff usually is pretty easy to identify as well.

I would like to add my question to this thread as well (hope you don't mind OP).

How well does real CF withstand the constant sun damage?

It all depends on the resin used. I've been using a surfboard poly resin that takes a long time to discolor

All I heard is its the lacquer (clear coat) which makes it yellow? so if it does turn yellow just sand it and apply it again
