Sigh. Nothing seems to be going right for me lately with the car. Can't get the seat level (seat bracket is lower on the left side) and its way too high. As-is there is no way I'll get a helmet on in there.

I have no idea what I'm going to do. May be a brand new Stätus seat for sale this week. ;(

Thinking of getting brides, what kind of brackets will I need anywhere to purchase them from? Will they fit on our oem bracket, and will I have to disable the air bag If I install these seats

That sucks man. Maybe a shop can modify the brackets for you to sit a little lower, and even.

You can order brackets from Bride which fit perfectly, you will not be able to reuse your OEM ones.
For the airbags, you will lose the ones in your seat of course, and you will wire in a resistor to make the system think there is still one. The rest of the airbags will work 100% fine still.

Excellent thanks, I can order the brackets only from bride? And is there something specific I should as for like specs or size? What else besides a bracket might I also need?

My fear is that I'll just have to pay someone to custom mount it... And that will cement the fact that no one else will be able to drive my car. ;)

Bride seats usually have a matching bracket/slider for them, some other companies (Recaro) can work with them, whoever you buy your seats from should be able to help you get the right rails.

you can check out wedgeengineering.com for brackets too. you just tell them the seat and the car and they have the right ones for you.

Sig, when you say its too high, is it higher than stock seat? Is it just the brackets that are causing it to be higher? I was really excited about STATUS seats. What color is yours? :P

sig11 03-26-2012 08:33 AM

With sliders it would be at LEAST ~1" higher than stock. A bit different than I expected. :) It might work with a flatter seat mount bracket. The Planted bracket leaves .5-1" of space at its lowest point. I'm going to give Scott @ Vivid a call and see what he suggests this morning.

It's an all black ultrasuede GT-X. I was gambling by ordering it without finding one to try but I think I won. It fits exactly how I hoped and I think it will be really comfortable.

If you want it to sit at or lower then the stock height you will need as i said before NAGISA SIDE MOUNT RAILS *Or* Buddy Club SIDE MOUNT Rails

If you are mounting from underneath then your height issue was obvious and i could have told you that before you mounted in your car!

Dont sell the seat order a buddy club side rail and call it a day! I had the SAME issue with my Corbeau and the corbeau rails that mounted underneath... They were 2+ inches higher then stock!

Buddy club side rails bolted to the holes on the side of the seat and were lower then stock!! PERFECT FIT!

PM me if you have any questions bro! Dont get frustrated!!

I'm not sure the side mounts cost much height. I can barely get the bolts into the back holes on the side mount. Height increase is mostly in the seat base...

Where did you find the Buddy Club or Nagisa mounts for 370Z? Also have to consider that the Ring GT-X is a wide seat (roughly 15" between the side holes).

I got my stuff from Dan @ assaultech.com Great guy to deal with!

The adjustments on the buddy club are awesome they allow you to have a ton of different settings... Theres like 5 slots on front and 5 on the back adapter so adjust the recline level then a good amount of room to slide back and forth for the side holes it meets up with also allows you to be able to have the seat a little closer to the center to allow more room for door clearance.

The side mount will allow you to go lower trust me... I have been there.

Finally got it all together after a loooonnnggg wait! Many thanks to Ralph @ V2 Motorsports for designing and building a mount that didn't put my head in the roof! (click for larger images)

Super sturdy base... no movement from the seat at all. You can push and pull at the top of the seat and will get no wobble:

My 30-45 minute drive today was great. The seat felt better the longer I was in it thanks to all the support it provides.

Now I just need to get one for the passenger side! (Don't mind the beer... started ZdayZ packing!)

Great looking seat. How much lower would you estimate your seat now with the custom mount? I'd be nice to find an extra inch or two.

And great beer choices.
