Laser Jammers?

Does anyone here have A Laser Jamming Unit installed on their Z?

I used to have a Blinder M25 on my previous vehicle, and it's saved me sooooo many tickets.

I'm looking to upgrade to a Laser Interceptor for the Z, but I'd like to see any install pics of any brand of jammer on this particular vehicle.

Does anyone have any pics of their mounting position of the heads (front / rear) control unit, and LED notification lights?

My light is crammed into the very bottom of the driver side pillar (no pics) my switch is under the dash just in front of your left knee there is a perfect mounting spot. I have one under the fog light in the rear and three in the front bumper.

NICE ONE! 3 heads up front is beastly. Which Jammer do you have?

I was thinking of mounting the kill switch in one of the 3 blank switch mounts in the center console.

Can you easily see the light from the position you have it mounted in?

btw, love the tint on the tail lights lol

Mr&Mrs 03-29-2011 01:17 PM

Yeah let me go take a picture real quick for you. They are blinder brand not sure what model.

The tails are candy black with clear, check out my build thread for more up to date mods =)

checking it out right now.

Also, where in tampa are you? I used to live in Palm Harbor in Innisbrook. Also lived by USF for a while.

Oh that looks clean. Best part is that it doesn't even look like you had to drill the console.

Thanks Man!

Here is it in my 370z http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...tallation.html

It was really hard to get the front and rear heads level which is essential to adequate performance. I still don't think my heads are perfectly aligned.

the little light is the only display for the blinder? Thats not bad at all. I use Escort laser shifters because they integrate into the radar detector. I thought there would be another big box that I had to mount with the blinders.

The escorts work great though, although they usually have a component fail after a couple years. I've had to replace a few parts between the 3 sets I have.

Do they actually work from your personal experience, because so far everything I found on them says they don't. If they really do I wouldn't mind getting one.

It also has a very loud audible beep. The light is usually green it just happened to flash red when I took my picture (it does a test when you first start the car). So when it gets hit it turns red and has a loud beep almost ear piercing.

I was looking @ videos on you tube of laser jammers. I'm about to invest in one since it's not illegal in NY & NJ.

they definitely work. I didn't believe them either until I was at a meet once and one of the club members was a cop who let us all play with his laser gun. He couldn't get a reading on my friends 350z that had them, and since buying them, I've gone by several police who seem to have puzzled looks on their faces as I drive by and they are looking at their gun.

That puzzled look is the greatest lol. I would love going over the Bayshore Bridge in St Pete and have State troopers look at me puzzled.

Although, I tend to turn it off and let them get the speed after I slow down, especially since I relocated to Utah, and they're technically illegal here.

Thanks!! That is exactly where I was thinking of mounting the kill switch.

I'm honestly a bit on the fence about the LI though, reason being is that most of the benchmark testing the GOL did, used the high powered models, which had 2 diodes per head. the regular only has 1.

I'm still thinking that's better than LED's, which is what the blinders and the escorts use; but I never EVER had a problem with my blinders. I had those for about 4 years, drove cross country, parked and drove in rain / snow / and the humid florida heat; and I've never had a ticket since their install (averaged about 2 a year before getting them)

Funny thing is, is that last christmas I flew back down to FL to visit the folks, rented a dodge charger, and I got a $250 Laser Ticket on Keystone when I was down for only 2 weeks lol.

The cops aren't nearly as bad in Utah as they are in FL though. I've only been tagged with laser twice in 2 years, and they don't pull the shady tactics like the Florida cops do... (like sitting right over a hill where the speed limit magically drops from 55 to 30 on a 3 lane road.

Lol I think I'm going to get one now. Does it show when they are trying to get a tag on you and would you still need a radar detector?

Mike 03-31-2011 09:30 AM

mine is integrated into my escort 8500 and the display reads 'shifting front' or 'shifting rear'. you still need a radar detector, because not all police use laser.

Depends which brand you go with. Mike just mentioned how the escorts notify you... The Blinders have an LED that goes from Green to Red and a high pitch siren that goes off in the car. When you get tagged with laser you know it. Your car will light up like the start trek enterprise.

The Laser Interceptors don't have any visual alerts, but over the speakers you get a voice notification that even tells you what type of laser gun is tagging you.

antivirus6613 03-31-2011 02:29 PM

I thought GOL also tested the regular version too?

I have an LI quad on my explorer and it gets JTG/JFG everytime. On the Z my mounting is off so I get punch throughs around 500feet or so in the front and rear. I need to work on that.

Jjaden 03-31-2011 02:51 PM

Now if I had one, and used it in an area that they were not legal, Would the polic have any way of knowing I was using a laser jammer?
