hey, remember this... lefty loosey, rigty tighty. so counter clockwise. if the strap wrench slips it's beyond the torque it can handle. if you sandwich a non-slip like i did, SNAP goes the wrench.
I struggled a bit with the 60's a bit but I was fired up lol

Ok, well at least I was turning it the right way. I'm gonna give it the ol' college try again tonight. I might just post a pic of me in tears if I fail again lol.

Still surprised the strap wrench didn't work for you you're just too strong. Besides, you can use it for oil filters too! and plumbing, etc....

Success! Black Nismo Knob On!

After almost popping a vein or two

So putting the duct tape on the knob worked (Thanks FromG2Z ) but not how I imagined. Kenchan thanks also!

Wrapped the knob up in duct tape but it didn't really budge. Took the tape off and now the knob was sticky. Used one of my Terry cloths on the knob..strap wrench and OMG....it started to turn.

Camera is kinda crappy and too much flash, it looks much better in person...matches well in the interior. The feel is soooo different, but I think I like it...will drive to work tomorrow.

Same here. Was able to finally loosen the stock shifter knob and replace it with my Nismo carbon fiber shifter. I must say that it definitely feels better than the stock shift knob.

my black aluminum came in yesterday. I tried and failed haha. The strap wrench just kept slipping. Ill have to try the duct tape trick to see if i can get a better grip. It looks great @thegreatone. Can't wait to be able to get mine on.

LOOKS great man! I think any of the Nismo knobs look great with the Z interior, and the shape/feel of it is the biggest plus for me.

So for you and others that I have helped out.... I would appreciate some REP POINTS please!!!!!!

p.s. so the stock knob is in perfect condition?

Rep points added!!

Actually some of the rubber to the front slid over exposing the metal below, but stock knob is pretty much intact minus that little blemish

Ya, it feels really good and responsive. I don't know if it makes sense, but the feel seems to carry down to the transmission more (to me) where with the stock knob, I just feel like I was moving the knob around.

Thanks buddy!

YES!!! You are SPOT on with your analysis of the new knob. For one, it actually is a little shorter in height, which results in shorter throws. But the biggest advantage I think is in "feel" during gear rowing... it seems to snick-snick better, plus you can really feel like your more in-tune with the transmission... like you're "one".... more sporty, better feeling, better engagement. I think it's both mental and physical, but there are some definite physical changes that are there.... I love it.

sounds great!

looking at thegreatone's strap wrench, he used the larger red one so get that one + cover the knob up with a terry cloth before strapping the thing.
