Just installed my lathe Werks knob or as Kenchan refers to it "my Michellin Knob" I can't believe how easy it was to unscrew the oem knob. I guess they ran out of loctite on the previous models cause I swear mine came off super easy. Anyways, it definitely changes the shifting feel and it's amazing. Great mod for anyone to start off with |
I just did this as well: the strap wrench and a pipe wrench with a towel to protect the shaft is the way to go. Its ridiculous how Nissan made it so hard to remove
Got a knockoff hebi baby |
Yeah a strap wrench is all I used too. It did the job.

Thanks. I'm really loving it. And yes I straighten out the boot so everything looks good now. |
OEM shift knob removal (SEARCHED)
thread from the dead, was just really happy to do my first mod on my car yesterday, stock knob still in perfect condition (wrapped it in about 12 layers of duck tape). Was reading this thread over and over again for a few weeks while waiting for my knob to come in. Got rid of the boot gap by wrapping duck tape below the boot on the shaft until the boot day perfectly in the right place.
Used the channel lock wrench for the shaft and a strap wrench for the knob. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...84c6f9bf7a.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...5a1e52da54.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Got my stock knob off vise-grips with towel on shaft. Major amounts of duck tape on the shifter knob and strap type oil filter wrench. not easy but she's off and no damage to the car or stock knob.

Nismo Carbon Fiber Gear Shift Knob
1 Attachment(s)
Installed the Nismo Carbon Fiber gear shift knob ($85).
Removing the stock shifter was by far the most aggravating tedious thing I've done in a long time. Had to fight for every minute turn. Once I did 2-360 degree revolutions, I was able to go by hand...but dam. Took forever and was annoying as ****. Yeah, of course I damaged the stock knob...even though I took every precaution and added a few of my own!!! What a PITA!!! New Nismo Knob would not catch the screw with finisher under the leather; the grommet that hold the leather boot tabs sits on top of the grommet and prevents the handle from catching the screw. PITA!!!! |
Did U remove the tapered spacer on the shaft? :ugh:
