Dont buy this

DO not buy this from any vendor or ebay or anyone else. this thing looks like crap in real life, specially under the sun. It looks like someone went around stealing side markers of 370z and sticking it to a piece of a carbon fiber that's been melted on to a plastic cup for shape.

on the other hand. i need something to go on the car instead of the nissan emblem because i took mine off (both of them ) and i was thinking of replacing them with this but when i saw it in real life i was like :shakes head:

is there a black nissan emblem that can go instead of this one because when i took mine off and i sanded it the end result was terrible.

there is this for the 350z but will it fit on the 370z? But then again i dont really want something from a 350 to go on the 370. is this one better looking then the one above?

thnx:tup: i drove for 1:30 to the location to that crap and i was so disappointed that i didnt want anyone else to go through the same thing. its so cheaply made. they just took the side marker and glued it to a piece of carbon fiber.

thanks for the heads up. i was thinking about these because i wanted to get the carbon fiber pillars and mirror covers.

armensti 04-07-2009 01:22 AM

so is there anything like this that i can use?

how does the one for the 350z fit on the 350z? because i rather get that one then the regular nissan one. im not a fan of shiny chrome looking things on my car.

You must have went to the same shop I did :icon18:, yes they looked really bad, I had cash in my pocket and ready to buy. Yep, just a side marker glued onto a piece of poorly molded carbon fiber. I posted in the other thread that SoCal started.

Welp, since the emblems are already off, you could take some mfine grit to them and spray a few coats of primer, a bunch of coats of black paint and then top that off with some flat, matte, or shiny clear coat, depending on your preference.

i went to this one. Great guys and the service was good too but the emblem is just crap so i ended up with the black license plate holder with the 370z on it.

Since it is plastic that is chrome plated try this: Cola as Chrome Remover

nismored 04-07-2009 01:54 PM

I would scuff it up with a fine grit paper. I highly doubt it is a metal emblem that is literally chrome plated. I am fairly confident that it is plastic with a silver layer. I don't think i needs to be sanded, it just needs a rough surface to adhere. Do very light layers and take your time. You can wet sand in between sprays to get a really smooth nice look. Once you get a few layers of clear on there it should turn out nice and not chip easily.

You're correct it is not metal; it is plastic with a chrome plating.

I too am anxious to see whether this works on our emblems. A custom plater can remove the chrome, but it will cost you.

nismored 04-07-2009 02:26 PM

im telling you. sanding it will be fine, there is no need to remove the chrome plating. If you want to do all hat go ahead. Scuff--->Paint--->Wetsand--->Paint--->repeatx3--->Clearx3---> Done

nismored 04-07-2009 02:26 PM

all for about 12 dollars and a couple hours.
