Can this be painted

does anyone think the brake fluid and batter covers can be painted by krylon fusion or duplicolor or something like that or will paint not stick to the cheap plastic

You can paint the plastic easily. Better to use a high-temp paint, though. Like a Duplicolor Engine Enamel (good to 500*). I used it to paint my engine cover on my old Z and my valve covers on my new Mustang. Good stuff and it applies very well if you take your time to clean the surface before you paint.

Some of the "old car" guys paint their engines to match body color and a lot of times you can't find high temp paint to match (so I was told by a bodyman), but the biggest thing to ensure the paint sticks and lasts to any piece is to make sure the part is properly cleaned and primed prior to painting. I painted the calipers of a previous vehicle using non-high temp paint as suggested by this bodyman, and after 5 years of daily use, there was absolutely no problems with the paint after numerous heat cycles.

Picked up the duplicolor today. i think im the first one on this forum to try and spray the battery and brake fluid covers. I will let you know how it turns out. Plan on spraying them bright red to match my wheels and the engine cover and strut bar

As long as you prep them properly you should be good.

now ive decided to mask off the outside and paint the middle red. the part thats raised, so kinda two tone, think it will look more "custom" and a lot hotter of a look. And since they are on opposite sides of the engine if the masking isnt perfect it will be cool because they arent right next to each other.

Gonna put a red fairlady Z sticker on the strut bar and paint the engine cover so along with my wheels i will have the whole black and red thing going on

Prep is the important part. My 350 had the battery and brake covers painted and held up great. This wasn't high temp paint either.
