which colour wrap?
Ok guys need opinions, I am planning to do a full wrap for my Z, either coming or next week. Reason being first kind of sick of the paint quality of our cars with numbers of road chips/ swirls etc...second at times I feel the red colour is too flashy for me. Third and final it will keep the paint safe just in case I plan to sell the car in future.
The things I am considering are that colour should show the curves of the a bit and should go with the carbon fiber on the car, I will be having my hood this week and plan to keep it without wrap. I am more inclined towards Matte metallic Grey, as I think I can leave the hood in CF and it might go with my wheels and CF on the car same time a bit confused on this and same colour in normal shiny finish. Second option is either number 5 or 6 in that case will foil the hood as well And rest of options are there, but would like to hear some opinions. 1. Matte Metallic Grey more like frozen sliver of M3 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1254404162 http://www.m3post.com/forums/attachm...1&d=1256822149 2. Shiny Grey same as above buy normal shiny more like stock PG Z, I have the sticker sample and I feel close to this colour http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-20...t-1280x960.jpg 3. Shiny Dark Grey (slightly darker then PG Z) http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...rlo/g_ext8.jpg 4. Satin Black http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/2...1101211347.jpg 5. Pearl matte metallic White (its a matte but with shiny bits) http://www.egmcartech.com/wp-content...p_image007.jpg 6. Normal white shiny sticker same as any Merc or Bimmer white |
i think the pearl white would show lines pretty good because of the "pearl".
|
yeah its nice as well, I am looking for both the lines and CF which I have on, should go with the colour
|
What about satin blue or red?

If you did this color you will probably have the hottest Z on the forum by far:
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...5/titcolor.jpg Its called Inferno Orange. I think it would make the Z (especially with your Amuse kit) look more like a Porsche than it already does. |
Shiny white or satin black would be my vote.
|
I wouldn't do it on a daily driven car, but if you are going to do it anyways, consider the carbon fiber di noc material. An all carbon fiber look will be unique.

What about this red? IMO, looks great w/ CF and would also make it less of an ordeal to worry abou door jams, etc.
|
Dont do matte silver thats what I was gonna do! If you must though I will just find another color. =(

Im also worried about the shine of CF because im going to have alot of CF accents. I was just giving you a hard time im not 100% on the Matte Silver yet because of this. I hope to have all my body parts and new wheels soon. Im hoping in the next 2 months to have it completed.

Hey guys, I heard about Oracal but I don't see it on their website. I would order some samples first to take a look at it. I actually checked out a place called FLX Paint, got their sample of the BMW frost gray and Satin Black. Their vinyl is actually real paint, I can smell. I'll check out Oracal but right now FLX Paint is pretty decent. |

Vinyl costs around 500$ rest is for installation, there are even places who can do in less then 1k but quality isint that good. Try just taking a quote for installation as cost of vinyl is same everywhere should be cheaper on your part |

The color of a reventon but I guess 40th ann. 370 is pretty close to that.
|
I got a quote yesterday around 2k... might do it myself but not sure if I would have the time to do it... Anyone dont this before? scale from 1-10 on difficulty level?
|
It's easy to do when you see it but doing it flawless work with normal vinyl is difficult because if bubbles and wrinkles, I will say 8/10 On top of that people here open all panels as well
If you buy rapid air release kind of wraps it would be easy as it won't cause any bubbles so can say 5/10 |
Ok guys decided to go for last option of shiny bimmer/lambo white. Project starting tomorrow
|
Good choice. Excited to see results.
|
so we're talking 1-2k for the wrap? Curious, have you checked into prices for a quality full car paint job? I'm also not happy with the quality of the paint and am struggling to keep the front of car free of issues.

Mine will hopefully be done in a weeks time, as I will get the roadchips and some other marks filled with primer then wrap. Quote:

Guys change of plan, glossy white which I wanted is not available at the moment out of stock on back order in dubai, so I just ordered matte silver from 3m 1080 series from US, they are saying it will reach Dubai on Saturday and then car will go for matte silver
Now if it comes close to this colour I will be more then happy http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1254404162 |
Great color! Cant wait to see the results docaam
|
Are you planning to do something to your headlights as well?
|
Well it will be nice to see what the Z looks like in the silver, can't wait!
|
Can't wait to see how it looks. My dream look for the Z is with the Amuse kit wrapped in a flat dark gray color (like the Lamborghini Reventon). I won't ever do it to my Z, but I would love to see someone else do it.
