The car can tell whether or not it's inside or outside. That sounds to me like some kind of issue.

Mine won't start unless the key is at least as far in the car as the kick plate in the door.

For those with issues of it starting and the fob is nowhere close to the car? Have it checked out. The proximity reader on the car is probably faulty? I tested mine and my fob is 10ft away and nothing happens when I try to start the car without the fob, I did get an error on the gauge that says NO KEY

Yeah get it checked out. I tried putting the key on the roof to start the car and that didn't work.

well this is your problem.. NEVER...and I mean EVER...give the keys of a sports car you love to your spouse. Wait until you have a dispute or a fight... shes just going to take your car and leave you :ugh2: well thats the worse case scenario but could happen :)
