So you have this wired to a switch to simply turn on when you like, I assume. I am thinking it wouldn't be too hard to wire into the reverse lights also to warn drivers when backing up.

i think its a cool idea. if it was cheap. deffinitley not something to spend a bunch of money on though. BUT!!! i have the base model with no light down there so would it come with a light and stuff too?

You having the base model has nothing to do with not having the light. It simply isn't an option in the US. One of the sponsors has this light for sale and the price isn't too bad. You would have to do the wiring yourself because our stalk does not include the required switch.

You really need an on/off switch for it to be effective and utilized for it's designed purpose.
It is brighter but its not THAT much brighter that I don't have mine turned on all the time. Its definately and attention getter and a conversation starter not to mention it definately increases visibility....

Sounds to me like the most universal and safe usage of this would be to have it do the blink-on-reverse thing as well as being able to toggle it on solid for fog. With a 3-way (well, 2-way + off) switch like the heated seat switch, the center (off) position could disable the light, the rearward position would have it only light up in reverse, and blink when doing so, and the forward position would turn it on solid full-time for fog conditions (and still blink if reverse is engaged).

I also think that would be a good option.

I've deleted the separate thread that I made regarding this, and have placed the videos here to keep this thread's consistency.

Here are three videos—each with a different lighting sequence—of the factory rear fog light blinking.

1. Three (3) rapid flashes:

2. Steady moderately paced flashing:

Are you allowed to run with a flashing light like that? I think where I live only emergency vehicles can run a flashing light or were people thinking more for show like neon lighting?

You can't drive with a flashing light, but you are allowed to have a flashing light or beeping for reverse gear in most states.

U.S. laws are retarded in some aspects. If you were on a curvy, mountain road and it was very foggy and you had that on your car, no cop would bug you. They would be thankful they could see you early on for safety.

If you were cruising the coast highway on a Saturday night in Florida or California with it on, they would probably try arresting you.
