The right shift knob feel
The 370 is my first stick shift and currently still rolling with the stock knob. To me, it feels very comfortable because it conforms very well to the natural shape of our palms. And it being leather, it stays relatively warm in the winter and doesn't burn up in the summer.
I want to ask those who have aftermarket knobs why they change their's out? A common style I see is the Nismo titanium knob that looks like a metallic cylinder. It definitely looks nice, but I can't imagine it being as comfortable to use as the stock one; and so on with the other aftermarket ones I've seen.

I have the Password JDM Balanced shift knob. I like the shape better than the stock knob because I tend to grip the shifter on the side for most shifts. I also like the look better. It is cold in the winter, but gloves take care of that.
Check out this thread . Lots of great pics of different knobs.

i have the nismo Carbon fiber shift knob and after i wrecked my first 370 i made sure i took it out of the crash and put it in my new 370. the stock shift knob is nice...but its super heavy...if you like that kind of thing. i personally hold my knob like an old computer joystick, my thumb is at the top and the rest of my hand is around it. i personally like how its smooth all the way around....sometimes i find myself stroking it....:P

I was pretty happy with the stock one, but now after driving it today I need a heavier feeling knob. Its a real PIA to get the stock one off.

This is someone on the forum, but I don't remember. Was it Semtex?

I'm looking for one with a similar shape to the stock one, but more weight. A little extra shift knob weight would really help with the slopiness in the the Z's transmission.

I found that channel locks on the shaft (with a rag to protect it) and a plumbers style monkey wrench on the know (again, with a rag to protect it) worked very well to remove the old knob, and left it undamaged.

I wish I had a plumbers wrench lying around.

I realized when driving my Mazda3 the other day that I prefer a round knob (I have a round MOMO knob in that car) when I am sitting higher above the shifter, but more of a cylinder shape when the shifter is closer to the seat level, like in the Z.
Oh, and those Nismo titanium knobs look very nice!
