hatch moves up and down

with the hatch closed i can push down on it and it moves about a half inch? when i let go it pops right back up. is this normal? does

Default hatch moves up and down

Yes it is normal you are feeling the play in the latch it cool just go drive or wash your car or something.

I think this is normal. Most latches have a little play in them. What does the gap look like between your hatch and the rear bumper?

Take it to your dealer and ask them to adjust it - or download the service manual (the link is sticky on the forums) and give it a try yourself. That will give you an idea what it should be - a baseline. Some play is normal, though, as others have indicated.

thanks for the responses fellow Z owners. I actually stopped by a dealer and both Z's on their lot did the same thing, so i wont worry about it.
