Debris Noise in Wheel wells

hey guys i was just wondering if there was anything that can be done about the debris noise in the wheel wells. The road noise isnt whats bothering me so i dont want to dynamat the whole trunk area plus i think i dont think dynamat is going to get rid of that. Is there any material that can just be applied to the wheel wells to get rid of the noise without doing the whole trunk. Thanks

you can try the Noise Eliminator spray sold at autoparts stores. its a sticky black mess so be careful where you spray.

i still recommend you dynamat the trunk and arches....there's a huge cavity on the driver side rear quarter panel where the noise transmits into the cabin. you'll know wat im talking about once you remove your trunk liner.

I remember reading a post about dynamat not being able to get rid of the wheel well noise but it did a good job with road and tire noise. I dont want to do the whole trunk because i dont want it to affect my interior exhaust sound so i just want to target my wheel wells.

Fender liner spray is going to be your best bet.

autozone, pepboyz, etc. walmart might even have it.


it does reduce noise, but you have to spray this crap pretty thick. make sure you mask off your springs and everything that moves cause things will get very sticky. ive had an instance in the past where a drop of that crap stuck to one of the coils on my spring and it made a BOING noise each time i went over a bump. hahaha. I used RC car motor spray (or glow engine/nitro cleaner) to remove the stuff off. you can buy that at most hobby shops that sell RC stuff.

there is a 3m undercoating product similar to rock guard that comes on trucks that prevents under carriage rust and damage as well as noise. might try that, comes in clear and black. if you want to make sure you get it use that stuff and dynamat the wheel wells.

I went with dynamat extreme its heavy but it def gets the job done. The firecracker like sound that was made when I drove over a bit of gravel has been reduced by about 80% you can still hear the rocks hitting but its more of a thud then a high pitch ting I hardly notice it anymore. Doing just the wheelwells will add about 10 pounds using extreme which is the heaviest they have some lightweight version now but i doubt it will handle the wheelwell racket
