EVO-R CF upper trim problem
Just purchased an EVO-R CF upper trim piece for the front bumper and I'm having issues getting the 3M to stick to the plastic... Any suggestions?

Clean the whole area with alcohol first.
Press firmly and hold for 20-30 seconds. |
had same issue, also try using VHB 3M tape
|
clean with alcohol or prepsol and heat up the bumper a bit along with the tape with heatgun or hairdryer a bit. But not to close so u dont damaged anything...
|
Yea. I used VHB on mine too! The tape it came with was weak.

I'd recommend using 3M Adhesion Promoter. It's real sticky and I've never had any issues after using it.
They are foam swabs that you wipe on to the surface that you're adhering to. You let it dry for a minute or two, then attach the piece. PM your address to me and I can send you a few packets so you don't have to buy any. |
Ok thanks everyone...Will be trying the 3M VHB later today

yah, all recommendations above are great. i would use alcohol to clean, then depending on how much texture there is i use adhesion promoter, then use VHB tape while applying heat. get both surfaces near hot to the touch using either the sun (if you're not in a snowbelt state in winter) or heatgun/ir lamp, and also heat up the tape.
then push down firmly for a good 30sec or so. keep pushing it every few hours for the first 24hrs. dont get the car wet while the adhesive cures. |

I will have to Use the VHB tape as well for the front, just wondering if this will damage or discolor the black front bumper piece if I ever needed to remove the CF piece.
