Replica Kits

When I had my 350Z there were a ton of deals on replica kits made in FRP. I know the 370Z is fairly new, but how soon till we see some vendors creating these replicas?

Things I'd like to see....:stirthepot:

Mines front Lip
Mines Spoiler Add on
Nismo Front Bumper
Nismo Sides
Nismo Rear Bumper.

Come on someone step it up. More then a grand for a Mines front lip is crazy. Especially since I tore up 3 Vielside lip kit on my 350Z.

Buy the real versions, support the companies who put in the R&D into making a quality product.

you'll see them eventually, now that the Amuse replica kits are out, I'm sure others will follow.

I can respect that, but I can also respect guys who go thru the process of creating replicas at a better cost. I like the style of the mines, but I am in no need for something in carbon fiber costing more then a set of tires.

I may go with the Evo-R front lip, but would be nice to have more options.

That's because they didn't pay for R&D. - How can you respect that.

Liquid_G 02-02-2011 02:26 PM

so you respect someone trying to make a quick buck by copying someone elses hard work? got it.

I'm a bit confused, why would you want to represent someone that steals the hard work of someone else and makes money off of that?

Replica aero parts are literally ruining many companies in Japan that put out the original designed parts. People unfortunately don't hear about it much, but many of these Japanese companies are struggling due to lost profits and many of them have even gone out of business in the last few years due to the knock-off game. Just look at Ralliart; they decided last year to completely stop manufacturing upgrade parts due to the prevalence of replicas.

I don't mean to preach, but have a look at this link for proof of this:

^:iagree:

Getting 1-3 fakes because they aren't as durability as real ones will end up with the same cost.

phelan 02-02-2011 02:34 PM

oh dear god. please learn a little bit more about the manufacturing process from the r&d phase through to full production before 'respecting' replicas. replicas are cheaper because they skip out on all of the pre-cost - read: DESIGNING THE PART - and fabricating a copy based on someone else's design.

it'd be the same as if you respected someone who can ctrl-c and ctrl-v a literary classic and retitle it.

oh - ibtl.

It's easy to keep a Mine's front lip in great shape....just add an air ride suspension! :icon17:

Great article. If you won't avoid a knockoff to support these companies you may just want to avoid a knockoff because of the fitment issues.

m4a1mustang 02-02-2011 02:47 PM

Replica kits FTL. How anyone can respect the "process of creating replicas at a better cost" is beyond me. I totally agree with phelan.
