I can't believe how good this mod looks in the sun! Amazing change for such an easy cheap mod. I will have to get more pictures when I'm back after training.
If you're waffling on this mod, don't. Just do it!!!!

damn this mod looks amazing on black leather! now i'm kinda regretting my white interior :( sorry for the bump :)

For those that have done the mod, how is it holding up?

wheee! 06-22-2011 01:11 PM

Mine has been awesome, no bleeding or running and the colour is as strong today as when I applied it.

Good thread. I was bored today and decided to try it out. I really like the way it came out. I went red and its not has bright as I hoped but I'm thinking if it was bright red it would get old quick. This darker red blends nicely with the black interior. Regardless, its much much better than the white stitching that came with the car.

What pen did you use Lochness?

I used a "fashion fabric marker" by Uchida with a chisel tip. I picked it up for ~$4 at Michael's.

Nice!I used an Uchida from Michael's as well, but I had a fine brush tip. I think I paid about $1.69 (with coupon)! You colour almost looks like mine in the photos you took.

Those look great guys, thanks for the idea! I was looking at my ugly white stitches and wanted to do something like this as well. I need to find one of these magic pens, any ideas where I can pick one up locally?

wheee! 07-06-2011 08:06 AM

Don't chance it with anything other than the Michael's Uchida pens. They don't fade or run and they have very accurate tips. It's worth it, as I tried three other pens first before I got the Uchida. None were as good and the colour choice from Uchida is phenomenal.

Can you find them online? My car is out in the sun 24/7 how soon will I have to reapply? will Armor-All products destroy the ink?

wheee! 07-06-2011 08:39 AM

The pens are designed for t-shirts so expect that they are very durable. You might find them online.

pty370z 07-06-2011 12:34 PM

Are those Uchida better than the Elmer's Painters that some people used before? How do they compare?

wheee! 07-06-2011 01:34 PM

No comparison. I bought the elmers too. Garbage compared to the Uchida.

I wouldn't say garage.

I used the dye marker at first and wasnt happy with the color. It didn't "pop"

The Elmers pen is definitely brighter.

In the high traffic area (driver seat) it does seem to have faded a bit. I'm not sure if it's because the pen was drying up when I did the driver side or not. But the rest of the car still looks great. I'll have to reapply on the driver seat and see.
