What Color Calipers?

Ok. So i will be getting my calipers powdercoated and am having a difficult time deciding on what color to get.

INFO:

I am getting a set of 20" gloss black wheels with a pearl white pinstripe. As well as new rotors with a black anodized hat.

Currently the car looks like:
http://jpmcgphotography.smugmug.com/...1_gYd4G-XL.jpg
http://jpmcgphotography.smugmug.com/...5_CX2cx-XL.jpg

more photos also incase you care enough to check!
http://www.the370z.com/members-370z-...a-daisuke.html

Decisions...

I wanted white calipers personally.. but of course they will get dirty fast even with ceramic pads.

Other suggestions have been:
a light blue to try and match the burnt TI look of the exhaust tips.
Deep crimson red to match the deep red of the tinted tail lights.
Regular bright red..
Turqoise/teal (spelling errors may abound!)

More than just simply an opinion, wondering if anyone has seen any car or has images with a setup you would recommend (overall car must be similar to really get a good idea)

So any input thoughts = appreciated!

Daisuke

my parents have a pearl white GT-R which has black rims and they went with red and it fits pretty well

roplusbee 01-06-2011 02:06 PM

I voted White w/ Black lettering. That way you can keep the Panda theme..........

Raven 01-06-2011 02:12 PM

im getting mine coated a turqoise/teal color...

Raven 01-06-2011 02:19 PM

i know this car has gold wheels...but you can kinda get an idea of the turqiouse color on a white car. maybe someone can PS the wheels black?

pty370z 01-06-2011 02:21 PM

(not my parents but the guy that works on our cars, we borrowed the GT-R to him for his wedding)

toxik 01-06-2011 02:32 PM

i have a similar panda theme on my PW 370z, and I'm planning on doing white with black letters, so I suggest same for you.

I also like how Brembo gold looks on PW, so that's another option.

wishihadnav 01-06-2011 03:38 PM

brembo gold would look great on PW but no powdercoater can source that color..

ONEighty 01-06-2011 03:51 PM

Orange with white decals for sure. You should also do a orange pin stripe around the lip, not white, and get orange anodized lug nuts. Small orange accents under the hood. Black out the headlights with orange projectors maybe? Or do the amber reflector in matching orange color. You can also take the rear emblem, have it painted black, and make the "NISSAN" in matching orange as well.

Or... all that, using another color. lol

Z1804 01-06-2011 03:52 PM

Anything but white......

James quit hatin on white... you just tryin to make my car look bad.

kielbasa16 01-06-2011 04:26 PM

I voted for the deep red. I think a bright red will stand out too much and detract from your panda theme while white might be taking it too far. A deep red could look really nice if its done right. Good luck and keep us posted.

ive had my front and rear emblems done in a pearl black with white nissan lettering.. haha

basically : ) suggested alot of stuff i planned in white as orange..

SPOHN 01-06-2011 04:51 PM

I picked white with black lettering. You don't really ever see that. It's different. It would be noticed but not in your face being that that your car is PW.

mikey1600 01-06-2011 05:23 PM

how about a bronze colour? white/bronze goes well, black bronze goes well, I'm sure black/white/bronze would :D

otherwise, Deep red/turquise :)

Hrmm. got any kinda photos of setups like that/ white car with black wheels n gold?

Visuals help me out alot.

and dangit! if pink wins I really will do pink.. then run around everywhere saying that all 370z's love pink calipers.

NewYorkJon34 01-06-2011 06:50 PM

I was in the same boat as you with picking a color, im going with red with a white akebono.

Lemers 01-06-2011 07:02 PM

I strictly said orange to match the orange interior.

I have a customer who really wants it and has been talking to different powder manufacturers. He is going to have them send me something that might be close enough. I told him if he finds the correct powder, his coating is free, because it will be the holy grail of caliper powdercoat!

Dai,
Here are some that I think would look good:

I don't have a picture, but I'm sure you have seen Shanna's Candy Teal brakes on her G35 at Z1, that looks hot on white.

White:

Aquamarine Blue:

Crystal Red metallic:

And of course, I do have candy pink!

370Z JT 01-06-2011 08:01 PM

Hi Mike

Is it possible to powder coat the hats on 1 piece rotors? Will the color stick?

It will stick, but shipping is quite expensive. You are better off going with a high temp spray paint, unless you want a fancy color.

MMM that white and pink looks goood!!

ClemsonWill 01-07-2011 08:12 AM

Please don't get the pink! I voted for the white with black letters. Something different but not crazy. Red is always a good choice too. Looks great on white cars.

God-Speed 01-07-2011 11:25 AM

Hope this helps you out!!!

SPOHN 01-07-2011 11:37 AM

Oh yea. The white for sure. The red is perfect to. But it's the same as others. White would defiantly separate you.

TypeOne 01-08-2011 12:45 AM

I voted red...

I'm surprised at how many people actually voted for white... seems like a horrible idea for a brake caliper. In functionality and taste.

BTW Mike, the color I got might not be spot on... but I'm going to give it a shot anyway.

docaam 01-08-2011 07:35 AM

white is nice but wont it be always dirty because of brake dust?

I photochoped some colours for my car will post it as the website where I posted is down, as my wheels are also kind of black (gun metal)

docaam 01-08-2011 07:47 AM

Ok these might help I guess

Candy Blue

Red

Orange

Dark Orange more like 350Z brembo
http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/77120e8290.jpg

Gold
http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/bf40bd5b3c.jpg

Dark Golden more like Titanium shade, I am planning to go for this

Last but not the least Yellow

Osiris 01-08-2011 08:07 AM

thought i'd throw mine in there (real, no photoshop):

The color is 'Safety Blue'
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...Ma%20Z/5-1.jpg

Here's mine next to a 40th anniversary red:

HKYStormFront 01-08-2011 08:09 AM

i voted white with black lettering but deep crimson red would look good too i think. especially with a lot of metal flake like graham has on his stoptech's on the G35

i can understand that white would be a tough go due to dust etc... but saying its bad taste well thats kinda well... everyone has their own tastes and opinions.. we all dont like the same beer, soft drink, type of women, car colors etc...

I don't go around saying people who get silver 370z's have bad taste.. i just say its not my choice!!

Thats a great shot. Nice color choice btw.

I may be leaning towards blue a bit, although i do still have some time to kinda think about it so who knows I could still end up with Pink.

Touche... but white calipers scream rice and tasteless modding.. IMO.

How many classy cars do you see with white calipers from the factory? How many Honda Accords and Mistubishi Eclipses have had someone paint the calipers white?

You know, just because it's something you don't see everyday... doesn't mean it is always a good thing.

Silver Z's aren't my favorite either... :tiphat:

i understand most dont do it. most do it to be "different" im considering it as I think I would like it and it would match my overall scheme. realistically im only gonna do what I think looks good.

But then when you say about factory, almost everyone has red and i agree it does look good. But I think for my car it would simply stick out and look good on its own, and not particular look good with the entire car (if that makes sense)

For eg if you took a picture of my wheel area people would go, that looks good (with red) but if you took a picture of the entire side of my car with the white that would look good.

Either way, whoever all posted examples of other cars etc ty, visualization really helps me out in what I think im gonna get.

Mike 01-10-2011 10:55 AM

and its not like its permanent, we can always redo them if white doesn't work out.
