JDM rear wiper

Does anyone know if the rear wiper can be ordered from Japan either as a kit, or with the whole rear hatch, or is there a way to order a Japanese spec version to the US?:driving:

kenchan 12-20-2010 11:16 AM

im sure you can go to autozone and buy a wiper blade and some 3M tape?

invest in a rearview camera. :p

:shakes head: ghetto lol!

grind2nite 12-20-2010 11:57 AM

I just think its unfair that they put them on Japanese spec cars and not on US when we need them more than they do. SO is there any serious replies out there or is it still jerky hour?

Ghost 12-20-2010 11:59 AM

I'm glad they didn't. I like my Z as light and simple as possible.

Junior370z 12-20-2010 12:01 PM

I don't remember if the wiper arm starts on the hatch or the window. If it starts on the hatch obviously a new hatch would be needed. I would buy a used hatch complete with wiper. Problem after that would be the wiring it up to the steering console.

Junior370z 12-20-2010 12:08 PM

Googled some pics and it does come through the hatch. The spray is on the glass too.

Add to the above that there is likely additional backside structural support, and rigidity involved with a wiper hatch.

why would we need it more than they do..

bullitt5897 12-20-2010 12:11 PM

Honestly, just use rainX it will be more cost effective and sheds standing water pretty well. I live in GA and it rains all the time! I also tinted my windows 20% and tinted my tails 5% sooo needless to say for me to back up at night requires my windows down and my head sticking out lol.

Because it never rains in Japan. water simply rises from the ground.

Rain-x FTW. Don't waste your money. Getting a full rear hatch from japan will cost a small fortune.

Vegitto-kun 12-20-2010 12:47 PM

european Zs also have the rear fog light and wipers.

sad little incomplete american Zs

Yes and I bet I paid less even after buying those parts than you did on you Z.

Vegitto-kun 12-20-2010 01:28 PM

yes you did but that doesn't have to do with my wiper but the ******* taxes and the fact that everything is more expensive here.

much better than sad little incomplete people living at parent's place.

;)

but i never liked rear wipers on a sports car (ruins the lines of the car) and rearview camera is a lot more functional than partially seeing out the wiped part of the rear glass when backing up, especially at night time.

rainx does help, you can also use polymer sealants with similar results.

I sure didn't mind paying HALF the price for my Z and not getting a rear wiper, fog light, and headlight washer ;)

Personally, I think it looks cleaner without the rear wiper

Liquid_G 12-20-2010 03:20 PM

didn't the 350z guys always complain about the rear wiper and remove it?

thats cus the 350z guys dont need it like us 370z guys do

Holliday 12-20-2010 03:28 PM

They left all those parts off for the US market because they know we will spend the $$ for parts that other countries have! Look at how many fog lights they sell!!!

The rear wiper is gonna be available soon I'm sure

Vegitto-kun 12-20-2010 04:10 PM

adding the wiper isn't going to be easy.

the fog light is just some electronics work

wiper is drilling the hole, putting the whole mechanism in there, wiring it, somehow getting the fluid sprayer in the glass.

does the rear wiper not have the sprayer built-in? it has yet another protrusion in the car's lines with a nozzle sticking out? :icon14: the hell do they think this is, some econobox hatch? :icon17:

its a little thing on the top of the window, you don't really notice it.

and whats next

OMG SPRAY THING IS GOING TO SLOW DOWN THE CAR.

no, just another thing that makes it more practical and less a sports car.

not to the extreme, but a torque converter based AT sure doesn't belong.

Vegitto-kun 12-20-2010 04:38 PM

and it still beats the MT version apparently.

I cant see any advantage of the MT compared to the AT other than the MT feel of shifting. even after francorchamps

well, the 'feel of shifting' as you put it is a big part of having a fun car, not rear wipers that are only halfarsed functional vs a rear view camera.

Vegitto-kun 12-20-2010 04:51 PM

only fools who cant park their car properly need a rear view camera.

ohohoho

daisuke149 12-20-2010 04:57 PM

you two should have started this at 11am eastern and continued for 7 hours. then I wouldnt have been bored at work.

Wait you were the one that f-ed up in your parking and needed to repair your car. :icon17: I remember your post. Imagine wat would happen if you were parking your car if it had MT. Totalled...

Yep, we all removed ours and you guys are trying to put them back on :icon17:

I put mine back on and use it all the time since I park on a hill and the Z is my daily.

I suppose you refer to a guy being AC or AC/DC. And your insult is that he is AC? Wow, how times have changed.

SPOHN 12-21-2010 10:12 AM

I plan to remove my rear wiper. As i did with my 350. Never liked it. Plus it's weight savings(lol). Looks cleaner though. I bought what is believed to be called a faucet stopper or plug from home depot and had it painted the same as the car. Looked good to me.
