Steering Wheel Upgrade?

So, I don't know why but I really dislike the steering wheel on the Z. I feel like my 08 G35 steering wheel had a smaller circumference, felt better in hand and looked a lot better. Was kind of playing around with the idea of swapping it out to a GT-R wheel. Anyone have an idea if it's possible or even cost worthy? What do you guys think? Also any feedback with anyone that has gone with an aftermarket wheel...just looking for a sportier look and feel.

RS4 (really like audi wheels)

My favorite style with the straight edge at the bottom and aggressive thumb grooves (from an Audi R8)

I actually really like the Z wheel, but you would be better off going aftermarket with a hub adapter.

So you're looking for meaty beaty big and bouncy in the way of steering wheel grip? The only ones I've seen to date are in Japan, and you'll have to peruse the J-blogs to find them.

Wow I was really envisioning something else until I read the rest of that sentence :rofl2:

Wonder if you can rig the Audi steering wheel onto the Z? That'd be interesting.

Gonna try removing the wheel from my A3/A4 and and see. I'm guessing most probably not but oh well let see what happens.

Coming from a 350Z i think the steering wheel is thicker and smaller. I love my new steering wheel.

Some good information guys. Thanks for the feedback. I'm curious if the 08 G35 wheels are smaller or the same dimensions as ours? I really liked the feel of mine and my friend has the same G, so I might take some measurements tomorrow....

I would contact bulletproof automotive or Baker Tuning and see if either can get it.

do they not get cruise control in japan?!

ClemsonWill 12-15-2010 01:28 PM

I have to agree. That CF wheel is pretty nice. But $800 before trying to get it shipped to the US.

You think that's a lot? I think that's a crazy cheap price for a DTM style steering wheel with carbon fiber, and a flat bottom...

By the way, I'm pretty sure you'd need to send them back your steering wheel, that's how most sales on custom steering wheels work for around that price, otherwise you'd be spending a little over 2 grand.

I know someone that could do that sort of job here in the states, turn around time is about 4-6 weeks... but you'd need a spare 370z steering wheel.

I actually have a few G37 steering wheels available, and waiting to get back one with DTM style handles and flat bottom.

Tits video, seemed easy to do, that guy is def an artist. Setting the wheel on fire was badass too, lol

UNKNOWN_370 02-04-2011 08:39 PM

This would be the sickest Z interior mod if it came to the US. Only thing, cruise buttons gotta be part of the US package.

NewYorkJon34 02-04-2011 09:09 PM

My wheel is gonna be done this week, so I'll be posting pics very shortly guys
