shift knobs - plz post pics and comments

I am looking to get a different shift knob to replace the stock one. I am not sure what type/color/weight to get. I have looked through tons of posts and it is very time consuming. I figured if people post a pic of their shift knob and comments about it, that it would end up being a great resource for everyone! And just like the window tint thread, if you were looking to get a new shift knob you would only have to look in one place.

i still think the stock knob is the way to go. unless torn up or worn out i'd leave it.

once you open the boot and relace the knob you might have some problems, not saying you would. Nismo knobs are nice though.

password:jdm balanced shift knob. while the knob is great, its slightly lighter than the stock shift knob..wished it was heavier, but it looks great, and matches my interior perfectly. just a warning though, the stock shift knob is a complete pain to remove. its damn near impossible to remove without damaging it

Well, I actually did tear up the stock knob. I removed it the other day, b/c I had a titanium shift knob from my STi and was wondering if it fit or not. Obviously it didn't. This is why I am looking to get a new shift knob now.

I knew this going into it. I figured I would just fit a nice aftermarket knob, but am still deciding which one to go with. That is why I started this thread. Also, in the future I do plan on installing a short throw shifter, so sooner or later it was destined to be removed.

I really like the knob, Ken. I'm not a fan of the large stock knob. I change the position of my hand depending on what gear I'm headed to, upshifting, downshifting, etc.

I actually found it fairly easy to remove the stock knob (well, maybe not easy but I got it off with no damage and no potty mouth words

). Just use channel locks to hold the shaft, and wrap the knob in another towel or rubber, and use a big plumbers monkey wrench to the threads broken.

If I change to any it will be the G37 Knob

I feel like it matches the interior just as well as ours with a little more silver... I ordered the black chrome nismo knob and decided against installing it when I got it... Theres another knob thats almost 200 dollars tommy something that I felt and it was awesome but 200 for a knob when ours is fine is a bit steep.

And for the Automatic guys I dont understand why they didnt do what they did on the g37 automatics and put a leather boot below the knob.. I feel like the knob sticks out like a sore thumb

I paid the dealer to take it off and they took it off w/o damaging it.

I have been thinking I would like to change my shift knob, and it sounds like I probably won't have a choice when I put in a short throw shifter. But I haven't found anything I like, what is the thread pitch we need?

I did find these that seem pretty nice,

Obviously it is not for our cars though, has anybody seen on like this that would fit properly?
