shift knobs - plz post pics and comments

I am looking to make a custom wood knob for a 2009 370Z 6-speed. I know the threads are M10 x 1.25, but I need to know the other dimensions,

Default 370Z shift lever dimensions

I am looking to make a custom wood knob for a 2009 370Z 6-speed. I know the threads are M10 x 1.25, but I need to know the other dimensions, shaft diameter below the threaded portion, length of the threaded portion, and height of the stock knob.
What a PITA to remove the stock knob. I plan to use a set screw in a machined brass insert with a stainless set screw.

I don't understand why you all like the "stick" shifts.
I prefer the round knobs....

i never went through with it, but there is some info from modshack in this thread. i found that site a while back. really nice stuff.

The stock knob is screwed on, and the factory uses loctite, so some real force may be needed to loosen it. There are dire warnings that excessive torque twisting the shift lever will result in transmission damage, so the directions include holding the shift lever securely with a padded wrench while unscrewing the knob by the base with another padded wrench.
If it just unscrews by hand, than I guess none of the above matters.
Not having a stock knob to study, it would help me to know if the threaded insert in the knob is right at the base of the knob, or is it well inside, and the knob extends over the larger unthreaded portion of the shift lever.
I noticed some pics from my website that were posted at:
DIY wooden Shift knob.
These were made mostly for BMW and Mini shifters, but could be made to fit others if I knew the specs.
There might be some interest in Corian knobs; heavy like metal, but not a problem with heat or cold.

WDRead, What brand is this/where did you get this? Is this a screw-on type shift knob?

I also like round knobs, but some of them with the ball only just don't look right to me. The TWM A6 Leopard Shift Knob looks pretty nice and is very weighty. (I know this is going to sound wrong, but let's stay on topic here) I think the round knobs that have a shaft look better than the ones with a round knob only. Has anyone tried the Blox round shift knobs? They look pretty nice and also have some weight to them.

ProfessorDave, I read your DIY for the rattle fix on the Password:JDM knobs. Do you remember what size that grommet was? Thanks.

As you all may be able to tell, I am still undecided on which shift knob to get. I may just get the Password:JDM shift knob for now. On all the cars I have ever owned with stick shift (this is my 7th), I always end up buying several different ones over time. I just seem unable to be fully committed to one!

The knob itself is an NRG Carbon Fiber Universal shift knob from Amazon (SK-300BC). It's a screw on knob that includes a set of 3 plastic inserts that can be used to put it together. It costs $40-$50 depending upon where you get it, and it's not real heavy.
But you're right, it's a ball type shift knob, which by itself doesn't look good.
I added a "shift knob base cover" from ZeeToyz (about $20), but it rattled.
So I added a "shaft collar" from my local Ace Hardware store ($2.50) above it, and now I like the way it looks.

I was going to use channel locks but when I tried to spin the knob off it started turning luckily. I changed out the shifter also with a AMS short shifter. I still have my shift knon in perfect condition. I was also lucky when I went to battle with the "demon bolt" from the cats. I got it to come out in one piece!
