Bomex lip

Well finally got my Bomex lip in and now somewhat irritated. I guess during the shipping the driver side was nicked up. The corner where it goes up against the wheel well. As far as the fit. Not as snug as I hoped. Definitely not something id like to do myself. I'd rather have a body shop install it to have it fit nice and clean.
Waited 2 months for this thing to come in.(painting and shipping problems) after all that I'm either going to sell it or buy another bumper and send to the auto body and have it molded. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!
Anyways I'll start looking for another bumper. I'll post a pic of the damaged part in a bit. Just a little pissed right now.

Paint doesn't really match either. It's darker than the car paint.

ilive2win 12-06-2010 04:01 PM

sorry to hear that. how was it packaged? where did you get it from

kenchan 12-06-2010 04:01 PM

dang... :( that suck. if your bumper is already scratched up i'd just take it to a bodyshop and have them fix both the lip and bumper.

Jamaica 12-06-2010 04:03 PM

sorry to hear bro.

I ordered it from Bomex. I already emailed the guy there the pictures. It was packaged decent I guess. Maybe it happened before it was packaged. If so I'll be more pissed lol!

ilive2win 12-06-2010 04:06 PM

im curious to see what bomex says. maybe they will just have you send it back for another one. that sucks about fitment though

I just can't have down time with my car. That's why I wanna get another bumper and have it molded on or sell it. I wanna keep it because it looks really nice if it was on right.

Junior370z 12-06-2010 04:20 PM

Added some pic to OP.

kenchan 12-06-2010 04:20 PM

not even a rental for a few days? or have your gf/wife drive you around?

ilive2win 12-06-2010 04:21 PM

it looks like it was done prior to shipping, but could be mistaken. hopefully bomex will have you swap them out

phelan 12-06-2010 04:26 PM

just curious, how come you got it painted then shipped, instead of installing then painting here? is the car really that critical that you can't afford any downtime?

i'm just thinking you can't expect a 100% paint match on something like that.

still the major issue is the damage; hope you get that sorted out, looks like the package was dropped or something. I'd hope that's the case (bad as it is), if they knowingly shipped you a damaged part i'd be a little peeved.

ThoriumHotdog 12-06-2010 04:28 PM

Ouch. Sorry to hear it OP. How did the box look when it arrived? Its kind of hard to make out in the pic you posted. It sort of looks like the box was re-taped at some point but if theres no damage on the box itself them Bomex needs to replace it.

The downtime may seem like nothing to some. I get that. My wife and I have different work hours. Plus she already picks up our 4 kids from school. It would be unfair for me to add me into her already tight schedule. If it could be done friday afternoon through sunday afternoon i can do that. Not much places that will do that. I think. It made more sense to have it painted and sent. Also I'm in the military. Don't real want to spend money on a rental on top of everything lol.
Not really bothered by the paint being a tad bit darker(even though I gave the color code). Mainly pissed at the damage on it.

Yeah hoping when I get another bumper and get it molded it'll turn out nice. I have seen others with the lip and they turned out really nice. The main reason I wanted the lip.

Junior370z 12-14-2010 09:56 PM

Finally got my lip repaired and repainted thanks to my buddy and his shop! Here's some pictures! BTW Bomex never returned my multiple emails for 2 weeks now. Pretty f****d up!

Looks Great! And the fitment appears to be better than that of my JP Vizage front lip.

kenchan 12-15-2010 11:36 AM

yah, bomex needs to get their arse inline with a better sales rep in the US, that's for sure.

Chris_1 12-15-2010 03:39 PM

Besides the problems, I LOVE how the lip came out. I wish we would start carrying parts, lol maybe I should contact Bomex and become their rep haha.

you gonna paint the fangs and the lip beneath it black?

kenchan 12-15-2010 07:58 PM

looks great. now peel off those stickers you got in the front. i was like woooo! then i saw stickers and... :ugh2:

:icon17:

Jessobear 12-15-2010 08:34 PM

You should get the factory mudguards. The one on the front of the sideskirts would help balance out the front lip.

I though about that but how much lower will the mud guards sit? I'm sure the first speed bump will rip them right off. I just clear the ones at work lol! That's why I want the mine's wing to balance it out but it's $800 and still have to save for it.
