Carbon Fiber Door Panel Insert...PICS!!

Found a door panel for pretty cheap...Just wrapped this piece this week in cf. Fit is perfect!! Let me know if anyone is interested in this or any other parts in cf. I could also do this piece in cf and keep the pad on the armrest and wrap with suede or leather.

Removed the suede and fiberglassed the pad for the armrest.

Here it is with cf down, no resin.

First coat of resin.

Fit is perfect, just need to sand smooth and spray with clear.

Thanx all...Piece will be totally finished up sometime next week. Overall with the glass and body work this will end up taking about 7 or 8 days from start to finish.

Southgachik 11-26-2010 01:44 PM

Looks great!

ThoriumHotdog 11-26-2010 03:19 PM

Any plans to do the area around the handle? That little oval with the insert you already made might look siiiick.

I would like to see the finished article, if it looks as good as what you have now, pricing would definitely be appreciated as I am interested.

I will when the time comes. I have some Honda Prelude stuff if you're willing to do it.

Carbon_z 11-26-2010 09:14 PM

Guilty, good memory Mike aka Bullitt5897.... Tony is a great guy and I look forward to helping him with future endeavors. I am driving a tinted red 370z with Gutted interior lmao.. Only reason being... My interior is getting wrapped :) Well worth it and I highly recommend Tony to anybody. We were working on the gauge cluster and eye lids but decided to back out.

Also, discussions made about Headlight mods. Instead of the typical painting the headlight, lay the inside with carbon fiber. Still in discussions but great ideas forming :)

Carbon_z 11-26-2010 09:17 PM

oh fyi... the pics arent sanded nor cleared yet. That straight carbon fiber folks, post laying. THe final product will look like glass.

It's really very well done my friend.

I don't think I will get this done particularly, but the switch panels, shifter surround, door sills, and dash faceplate will prolly be on my list.

Carbon_z 12-02-2010 03:31 PM

That looks great:tup:. How much of a thickness does it add on?

Post some finish pics when you get a chance. Not my style, but I'm curious to see how it all comes together.

kenchan 12-08-2010 04:41 PM

hummmm.... that's too much CF for me, but good job.

zrider 12-08-2010 04:41 PM

209Z 12-08-2010 07:03 PM

wow...lol..whats the turn around time for the door inserts?

Carbon Fiber Element 12-09-2010 07:11 AM

Right now anything I get in is closer to 2 weeks to get done since I got a bunch of parts currently going. This panel is done, I will pop it all together and snap another pic. I can't post any totally installed pics because this was not done for a customer, just did it to show on the forums as a sample.
