Roadster's seats on coupe.

Hey guys, I don't know about you, but I think the coupe's seats are ugly and kinda fat looking vs the "pointy" sportier look on the roadster's.

So I've been searching info on getting the roadster's seats swapped on to a coupe (nismo), but there's just nothing out there, maybe someone here could shed some light on this. Do you think they will bolt right in? Where could we get them? Do roadster's seats have airbags? if so, will they still work?

Being that aftermarket seats range from 1200-4000 each, plus rails or custom work to get them properly installed I thought maybe this could be a viable alternative.

Like I said, IMO they look better than the coupe's and if they fit and I can get them for a fraction of the cost of recaro/bride/sparco I would be just as happy. Also aftermarket seats tend to be lower and I'm 5'7'' so I can barely see out the car as is lol. Picture this: roadster's power seats reupholstered w/ black leather, red stitching and the nismo logo to match the rest of the interior

I have no idea how much the seats run for since I can't find any for sale (already emailed courtesy parts for a price and part number but I'm expecting a high number). And I know this would only be a smart thing to do if the cost is way less that going aftermarket. Anyway, what do you think?

Ron.

looks interesting....I think i would like it.

Jordo! 11-25-2010 12:38 AM

I had no idea they were different... anyone have more pictures of the roadster seats?

I wonder if they are more or less comfortable... heavier or lighter?

Come to think of it, why are they different

Jamaica 11-25-2010 12:43 AM

looks like the shoulder part extends all the way to the top of the headrest, besides that looks the same to me.

dixon cider 11-25-2010 12:47 AM

Interesting that they would be different. Hmmmm. I like the roadsters look better. Roadster FTW

Jordo! 11-25-2010 12:50 AM

But is that particular to the roadster or is it just the way the leather seats are designed? I could swear I've seen pics of the roadster with the same seats...

See -- aren't those the same or am I crazy?

Anyone have pics of the leather seats handy?

Jordo! 11-25-2010 12:57 AM

No wait -- I guess they are different...

http://www.the370z.com/parts-sale-pr...rt-rotors.html

Hmm. Anyone got more pics of those roadster seats? I like them better too...

Ron 11-25-2010 01:01 AM

I was at a dealer last weekend and it occurred to me. I think all leather seats on the roadster are the same.

That pic above seems like cloth seats, same as in a coupe...soo if the coupe's fit the roadster then it should be the other way around too :)

Ron 11-25-2010 01:13 AM

red stitching (that's as far as my ms paint skills go, u get the idea ;) )

Roadster seats have heated and cooled ventilated functions, this leads me to believe they are probably a fair amount heavier than the base cloth seats and a bit heavier that the heated Touring package seats. They look nice though, I wonder if the heated/cooling option would work in a coupe?

Ron 11-25-2010 01:44 AM

Yes, I think hardware is self-contained so they include the fan and heater on the back of the seat. I don't know about the wiring needed to make them work though. Also that hardware can always be removed if its not gonna be used, that should lighten them up. (I honestly couldn't care less about ventilated seats, I just love the way these look)...Now, if I could find a wrecked roadster...

I had to look to see if I had a picture. It has been so long since I have seen it. Here is mine.

I have been watching for a set to come up for sale. I would love to have the cooling feature. I haven't seen any. Buying OEM from a dealership is going to be way more than after market seats.

cc370z 11-25-2010 02:28 PM

Living in AZ I would like these. What's the OEM pricing?

Ron 11-25-2010 02:55 PM

Don't know yet. Once courtesy parts gets back to me I'll let u guys know. However I agree with Clemson, its gonna be expensive getting them from a dealer.

I want a Z 11-25-2010 03:24 PM

i think the main difference is the headrest section

ThoriumHotdog 11-25-2010 03:34 PM

I was thinking about this when I was browsing the brochure. The seats do look a little more sporty and having a little ventilation when getting into a hot car might be nice. :) I wonder what the wine seats would look like in a black Z.

christian370z 11-25-2010 05:58 PM

That would probably look great, although I think that whatever that mesh center inserts are in the Roadster seats both looks and feels cheaper than the suede inserts on the Touring seats in my opinion.

Ron 11-25-2010 06:13 PM

Yeah they don't look as good but that mesh material is there to allow for better airflow since the seats are vented.

vividracing 11-25-2010 07:41 PM

looks good!

Lemers 11-25-2010 09:13 PM

Putting vert seats into the coupe would be a nice detail.

Jamaica 11-25-2010 09:23 PM

Should prob try a junk yard jus in case there's a totaled z or try ebay they might have a deal

370zproject 10-10-2011 05:13 PM

anyone done it yet?

TX_370 10-10-2011 05:15 PM

Ron, if you get new seats I want your Nismo ones!

Ron 10-10-2011 05:23 PM

Alrighty.. but I have no idea where to get vert seats... I've looked and nothing. I never heard back from Courtesy Parts either.

MrTwo94 05-05-2015 09:59 AM

Bumping this old thread to see if anyone has done this. Living in Texas I am really disappointed Nissan elected to heat the touring seats instead of cool them.

370zproject 05-07-2015 09:49 PM

i still want them

MrTwo94 05-08-2015 06:54 AM

It's been 4 years, I was hoping you already had them and could tell me how to do it!

370zproject 05-08-2015 02:44 PM

haha yeah its a back burner project lol

370zproject 05-08-2015 02:44 PM

i now know gtr seats fit in a 350z tho gives me hope

WAngel 08-19-2015 10:10 PM

i noticed the roadster seats looked waaaaay better a few months back. Been looking for them since them. Can't find them at all. Looked on coparts but all they have are the ugly light tan ones. I want the wine color vert seats bad for my PW coupe. Still no one has done it yet huh?

killrain 05-28-2016 10:41 AM

I've been thinking about doing this lately (side project, no rush). So I googled it and bam! This thread pops up. So has anyone done this yet? I keep looking at junkyards to get the used seats.
