Painted Mirror Caps Removal

How in the Hell do you remove the painted caps on top of the mirrors? Looking at doing some cosmetic changes.... Damn caps

The just pop right off with the use of some wedging device.

what type of device would you suggest. I cant seem to wedge anything in it since the mirror lens is still on it and the mirror is still on the car.

Wait, you were talking about the painted panel on the front facing end of the side view mirrors right? You can usually purchase a plastic wedging thingy at any auto supply store.

the painted portion of the mirror. Same color as the body of the car. Not the entire assembly just that painted section.
