Red lights on bottom of door panels

So the Zs have a red reflector looking thing on the bottom of the door panels. Are these supposed to be working lights for when the doors are open? And

Are these supposed to be working lights for when the doors are open? And if not has anyone thought of making them work? Just curious why they would be there if not to light up. Are mine just broken?
