Power Window Help!!

Does anyone know what controls the auto function on our power windows? Is it the switch or the motor? My dealer cant fix my car they have replaced the motor and now they say its the switch. My car wont accept the window programming on my pax door to auto open and close fuction, but the motor works otherwise. I did ALL the programming suggestions on the forum and none worked. Thanks for the help

Well, you asked if someone knows, and iI cannot say i do. However, if the normal up/down functions are OK (the problem is only with the window 'auto' function when the door is opened?), it seems that both the switch and the motor are OK. Sounds like a problem with the Body Control Module. I'm surprised a dealer would not have the diagnostic gear to pinpoint that immediately.

Yes its only the auto function, when the door is opened the window lowers but when the door is closed the window does not come up automatically. Also the full auto up and down function does not work. Did not know this went thru the BCM , thanks for the info

try the window switch, replace it with a known good one. this is simpler than they are making it out to be.

You say you tried everything. I assume you've done this:

Have the car turned off.
Press the ignition twice to get into ON mode, but don't depress the clutch (Don't start the car)
Using the window switch, fully lower each window and then fully raise it back up.
Push ignition once to turn off the ignition.
Start car normally, windows should be reprogrammed.

Thanks Spearfish, tried this again and it did not work, by the way I travel to your city frequently and love it specially the food.

When using spearfish's directions you have the hold the switch in the up position for 5 seconds after the window is all the way to the top. Make sure you pull the switch up all the way (2nd position).

2nd ChrisSlick's instructions. Mine was exactly the same when delivered. Go thru the initialization sequence exactly. Make sure you keep holding the switch fully in the 'up' position for 5 sec after the window is all the way up. Worked for me.

Forgot about that tidbit. Thanks for including it.

PR, my wife and I love Puerto Rico. Maybe I'll plan a trip and reset your windows for you :).

Actually, you're supposed to hold the button in the down position for a few seconds (you'll hear a click). Then close the window and hold in the up position. Only go to the first click. Don't go to the auto position on the switch. If this doesn't work, try a full reset. Hold the button in the down position for twenty seconds, then close the window and hold for another twenty. The most important is to not put the button to the auto position.
I did it a gazillion times this summer the resets always worked.

Tried this and it did not work, I am positive there is something wrong with this besides programming. I just hate the dealer, they dont know anything and do not have any parts, every thing has to be ordered (from japan) and it takes forever. Just wish I could tell them what was wrong so they order it and get it over with, I guess I will have to wait for the switch and see what happens.

Hmmm, let us know what it turns out to be. My symptoms started about a week after deilvery but the "power window hokie pokie" worked for me.

That's a bummer. I assume there is only one dealer there?

Its not the only one, but its the largest and the only certified to service the GTR (and I think its the best one). Talked to the service manager yesterday and he said they got it to work with a switch of from a new roadster, but sice the P/N were not the same (according to him) they orderer the correct P/N for my car. Will let you guys know.:ugh2:

Window problem

I had the window operation problem this week after the car was frozen overnight and me trying to get it open when still frozen.
I did the windows down and back up then hold switches for 5 seconds trick mentioned on here and it all reset itself.
Many thanks for the heads up lads.
