Curb Damage...370z Nismo Front chin Bumper
 

So today as I was backing out of a spot I cut the wheel too early assuming I was out of the spot enough ( I know amature move) and swiped the front bumper on the curb (the thing must be about 7 inches high...no way i was gonna win this one). I gotta admit it hurt deep down inside hearing that scaping sound. Then I saw it..:mad:.and after cussing myself out and damning myself I realized getting this upset wasnt going to fix anything. Anyway so I was doing a search for nismo front bumpers and couldnt pinpoint the exact part #. Anyone have any idea? I also figured since its plastic it shouldnt be too hard for a body shop to fix and paint it rather than me dropping a few hundred dollars on a complete new bumper? Any help would be appreciated!

Getting new bumper would be overkill. Simple bondo/paint is good!

Took the Nismo to get touched up this weekend. Overall very happy with the work. Total cost was $160.

Well, stupid me did something similar. Pulling into a parking spot (on the end) and THOUGHT the curb I was pulling up to was perpendicular to the stripes on the parking spot but, NOoooo...it formed an acute angle and I was looking (with door open) the front left of the car to get about a foot or two from it and the right side ran up on it (because of the angle).

Now I have scrape on the black flange (sport) and part of the red is scratched.

So, what did they do to your car to make it look nearly like it was for only $160 !?

I'm just sick about my stupidity...

depending on how deep..likely a wet sand and a nice polish. doubt it could have been painted/blended for 160.

They did an OUTSTANDING job fixing that! What did they do to fix it?

The repair looks great and you got a heck of a deal. I did something similar on my last car and it cost me $350 to get fixed.

yah, i too would do the touchup approach. most dealers have mobile touchup places come out to fix their used cars so talk to your dealers when you have such damage.

Heck, his looked WAY past the paint coat...

Well I guess I should have mentioned it was an old family friend that did the work. Ie that's how I got such a good deal. I was more than impressed with the fix. The gash was deep... He used an epoxy mix to fill both the lip and the bottom panel. Paint was $56. The morning I went to lick up the at I brought $300 to pay him and he refused to take the money. Finally got him to take at least $100. He will be getting the rest in an Xmas card! There's no doubt that if I went to a different shop I would have paid a small fortune to get the same work done.

Yeah. But if you envision that this could have otherwise been a small fortune, I hazard to even ballpark the cost of a replacement OEM Nismo bumper... No question that repair vice replace was the answer. Looks really nice... Go buy a lotto ticket - your luck is on the up trend!
