According to the service manual the rear trunk release is wired to pin 67 (color GR) of the BCM. To send a "release" signal the pin is shorted to ground.

So for implementation you would wire a momentary switch (like the SRM switch) spliced into pin 67 and the other wire to chassis ground or electrical ground.

This is one of my major pet peeves. When I get modding money next, I am seriously going to look into it. My idea is to place a trunk release button where the sport mode button would be, since I have a base and therefore have no S mode.

Wondering if I can make that a reality. I'll probably talk to AAM about it, and if I do something like that, I'll post a DIY, you can be certain.

i have a remote hatch opener. if someone could tell me the point of being able to open the hatch without actually being there to take things out or put things in i'd be curious. FYI you don't need the FOB to open the hatch as long as the car is unlocked.

It's just a courtesy thing for my passengers. If I'm dropping someone off at, say, the airport, I'd like to pop the latch as they exit the vehicle. It's not like I need to do that. It's just a luxury. Rather do that than have them grope around for the button or have to get out and show them where it is.

well here's what i'm thinking. the only person i'd really be concerned with being 'courteous' to with car chivalry is a girl. And chances are if i'm dropping off a girl somewhere that i'd actually care about being courteous to, i'd get out and help her with her stuff. If its a friend i would be like 'the button is above the license plate.'
just playing devils advocate. Then again i could always just use the hatch opener on my viper remote
