Asking what the best shift knob is is very subjective. You have a bunch of options to consider:
-Weight: this changes the way the shifter responsed when you throw it between gears. A lighter knob will make you feel like each shift is more deliberate, a heavier knob will need less effort to slot into gear. -Material/Texture: do you want something that has less texture? Metal? Leather? Polished?

The best? Not sure, haven't tried them all. I do like the Nismo knob though. A little more heft and a better overall feel in my opinion. One downside? It gets really hot in summer and really cold in winter.

here is the one I have...weight is 297g. This is the shortest of the three. The brand is Joyfast. They make
parts for Miata's. Last edited by CharBoiler; 09-29-2010 at 01:46 PM. |

I enjoyed my Password:JDM balanced shift knob. Keep in mind, this one was a raw aluminum prototype. The production versions are a little more finished. It had a good fit and good feel.

I personally have the Nismo black aluminum and love it. I'm planning on saving my pennies for the titanium GT though Check some of the Nismo stuff out Here!

what do you guys think about weighted knobs? ITs' supposed to smooth the shift out and give a better feel right? Been thinking about getting this one. I've awlways loved plain round shift knobs

weighted knobs are good, it makes notchy gearboxes feel smoother.
but the Z's gearbox is pretty smooth already so there will be benefit, but not as significant as other cars. im not sure why PWJDM has a fixation on 6.1oz... or watever it was. |
