I'm liking the bamboo shift knob, it doesn't get freezing cold in the winter, and doesn't get blistering hot in the summer. I wasn't sure if i was going to like the height, but I'm preferring it over the stock height. I was also worried that the bamboo wouldn't hold up, but its very solid.

Went for the Nismo GT Ti knob. Feel the installation setup could've done without the adjustment feature, but nice to hold. I didn't think I'd care for a shorter feel because there's no shifting any faster with rev hangs and the occasional inadvertent SRM blip on upshifts (5th gear), but I can feel out the feed into the gates a bit better, as it is I was holding my PWJDM knob on the lower half.
Pricey piece I guess because Ti and the badge, but simple item and so-so weight. At MSRP I would've been looking at that TK pre-order instead. http://i.imgur.com/0vg2kIh.jpg (yeah I do need to get a finisher) |

I have this one in my 370Z, with a trim piece from the Z Store. Total cost was about $55 delivered for both parts. You don't need to spend $325 for a machined and nicely weighted knob with some ghey looking turtle on it.

It’s mid 2017 and I’m hoping a more experienced member can offer a recommendation on a tried and tested shift knob. Also hoping this tried and tested knob will be aesthetically pleasing to me.
Was originally thinking about the Password JDM Balanced Shift Knob because the red handle would go great with the red interior of my 40th. There’s also something about the PWJDM logo with the Japanese writing on the band of the knob that appeals to me in the Z. I’m just not sure how functional this knob is being that it’s a bit lighter than stock. Seemed to have a lot of fan fare when it came out though. Retailing for $60 Then theres the PWJDM Type II Knob that seems to have gotten overall positive reviews with one review stating it was garbage. $40 seems like a real bargain for this. Also interested in the TWM typeR knob. I think the Biggy type is the way to go ? Forum members please chime in on these and other recommended knobs if possible ! Thank you. I am aware the Hebi Bebi is the way to go but I don’t think I’m ready to drop that kind of coin on a knob. |

I switched to the Nismo GT Ti. Lighter, but also quicker and more accurate shift setup for me. The profile carries downward for a more versatile feel, and the TWM Type R will probably achieve the same but with more weight. For me, weight hardly matters vs. shape. The synchros and rev hang will only let you shift so fast on a regular basis. |

Does anyone make a polymer/duracon shift knob that is weighted? The 90mm duracon Tomei knob for example...a steel or lead weight internally fixed above the threads(reason I specified the taller 90mm). I understand this still won't be close to the steel ball or piston ones, but living in Mississippi, heat is an issue to the point I don't really think a metal 1 is an option. I was just thinking if it were to be done with a taller style knob, the weight being placed above the threads would make it somewhat top heavy in hopes of at least somewhat offsetting the difference in total weight. You guys can fill me in on if I'm missing something...just a thought.
