EVO-R Titanium Shift Knob
Promised Jay [EVO-R] I would start a new thread for him about the SHIFT KNOB:)
Installation is simple... Step 1: Twist OEM shift knob off (counter-clock wise) It will take a GREAT amount of force to twist off the OEM shift knob because of the amount of loctite Step 2: Twist on your new knob :) Here are some pictures taken with my iPhone... sorry for the crappy quality I will be retaking them with my DSLR later on today. http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...nob/photo1.png http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...b/photo1-1.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...nob/photo3.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...nob/photo2.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...ob/photo22.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...nob/photo5.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...nob/photo4.jpg |
need to get a new boot(?)
|
That doesn't look very good with the stock boot & doesn't really match anything on the interior.
|
umm you probably DO NOT want to twist off your shift knob without holding the rod down with a vice... but looks decent...
|
lol, i didn't see the DIY instructions.
i agree...use vice grips to hold the shaft before you turn the stock knob off. |
sorry :)
thanks for correcting me , i was typing this while in class. yes don't forget to hold the shaft before you turn the stock knob off. |
when i did my G's knob (TWM) i ran into the same stuation with the boot.
i bought a MOMO shift boot which comes with a conal shaped rubber ring inside that shapes the boot at the top where it meets the knob. i think something like that will make your knob/boot look more finished. :) here's wat i mean in my G: http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...6-finished.jpg |

i just didn't put it on yet; reason being, i don't have a pair of scissors on me to cut it down smaller :( i'll take a finished shot after words when i get that done:) thanks tho :) haha |
ahhh cool. please post up after that ring is in place in the boot!
|
kenchan, how do you like the TWM knob?
|
jeff- ive had that knob for like 4yrs now and love it! :p
|
how does it compare to the OEM knob on the 370? how much was the momo boot thing?
|
im happy with the Z's stock knob, the height, and the action of the stock shifter so not sure if i will be changing the knob on my car.
the G35C's stock knob was light, shifter was notchy so i bought the weighted TWM knob, raised the height of the knob by about 1". it feels great. :p the MOMO boot i got locally for like $70, but im sure you can find them cheaper online. |
yea right now i like the stock knob. plus it doesn't get too hot or cold like a metal knob would. Thanks for the info kenchan +rep
|
jeff- thanks for the rep. yah, the metal knobs do get very hot in the sun and very cold in the winter time... they look and feel nice though.
another approach is CF knobs like the one NYJon has. not sure if they are weighted though. |
