7AT Shift Boot!!!
Before I get flammed like crazy... I want everyone to know that I paid for this car ON my own. I'm 20* (Trade my old car in and got a good deal on the Z). That begin said... I did not have the option of MT/AT. This was the only Japanese car on the lot. But in all honestly? I love the auto. It's more practical for my daily driving, although I just dislike the auto down shift, I rather just put it in neutral.
Now to the point... I want a boot cover for my AT! The factory look is very cheap looking to me. Call me a poser if you want, but I still love my car! So does anyone know any other way to get a boot cover for our AT's? Cause I found this, but I don't know for sure if it works for the 370z. Automatic Shift Knob Swap - Nissan 350Z & 370Z Wiki Of course this cover looks cheap. But once you get the top off, you can out and boot cover you want in there =] Edit* This is what I had in mind. If it's true that you can fit any shift knob on to it

This has always been on my list, although I haven't really started the list yet... haha. I was trying to fingure a way to do this using the stock knob, but the way it attaches, it might be impossible that way. Try it and let us know how it goes!

It would be embarrasing for someone seeing a shift boot and then trying to shift it as a manual but then learned that it was an automatic transmission. Don't be a poser and keep it as it is. An aquaintance of mine did that to his automatic shifter and he was pretty embarrassed to show it off to people because he was a poser.

It should not matter once you get the top popped off right?

Lots of cars come from the factory with shifter boots on the auto -- it is a purely cosmetic thing. Sheesh.

Do you guys think the G35 shifter assembly and boot could be modified and retrofit? It looks about the right size....

As mentioned above, there are a lot of cars who boot their autos. It's merely a cosmetic choice. |
