7AT Shift Boot!!!

Before I get flammed like crazy... I want everyone to know that I paid for this car ON my own. I'm 20* (Trade my old car in and got a good deal on the Z). That begin said... I did not have the option of MT/AT. This was the only Japanese car on the lot. But in all honestly? I love the auto. It's more practical for my daily driving, although I just dislike the auto down shift, I rather just put it in neutral.

Now to the point... I want a boot cover for my AT! The factory look is very cheap looking to me. Call me a poser if you want, but I still love my car!

So does anyone know any other way to get a boot cover for our AT's? Cause I found this, but I don't know for sure if it works for the 370z.

Of course this cover looks cheap. But once you get the top off, you can out and boot cover you want in there =]

Edit* This is what I had in mind. If it's true that you can fit any shift knob on to it

A lot of modern autos have shifter boots. I believe the G37 auto does. Don't see why you couldn't do this on the 370.

hey great idea, the car was definetely design around being MT. the MT knob and boot complete the trim look, where as the AT knob looks like an after thought, so ugly... all my friends agree. in for results!

That does make the car look cleaner. :)

This has always been on my list, although I haven't really started the list yet... haha. I was trying to fingure a way to do this using the stock knob, but the way it attaches, it might be impossible that way. Try it and let us know how it goes!

It would be embarrasing for someone seeing a shift boot and then trying to shift it as a manual but then learned that it was an automatic transmission. Don't be a poser and keep it as it is. An aquaintance of mine did that to his automatic shifter and he was pretty embarrassed to show it off to people because he was a poser.

Sounds like a good idea. You should try it out. It brings a cleaner look to the car.

I would love to see a short, GTR style knob. I do not like the big "Kia Looking" knob either. I would prefer a low slung knob like a BMW or the GTR; just me.

The GTR style is mad sexy. Nissan should have went with that same style for the 370z. But sadly they they are cheap & trying to profit =[

I don't really care what people say. Only I drive my car, since I bough it. I'm proud of what I have.

It should not matter once you get the top popped off right?

So I guess Infiniti was hoping to embarrass every G37 driver who opts for the auto

Lots of cars come from the factory with shifter boots on the auto -- it is a purely cosmetic thing.

Sheesh.

Looks like someone has already done it:

^^^ ewwww... that looks bad... :ugh2:

Do you guys think the G35 shifter assembly and boot could be modified and retrofit? It looks about the right size....

You would only be "posing" if you told everyone that you had a manual, when in fact, you had an auto. And that wouldn't even make sense in this case since the auto holds a performance edge over the 6mt.

As mentioned above, there are a lot of cars who boot their autos. It's merely a cosmetic choice.
