Fog/Driving Lights
I'll be picking up a 370 within the next few months and one of the many mods I will be considering is adding a set of fog/driving lights to the car. However given the new front end I'm not 100 percent as to how they would look and or where exactly to place them. Has anyone installed aftermarket lights on their Z and if so any pictures you can share??

for looks it does.....a mini set would make the front look right.
You've got the right idea....it will give it more presensce. No it doesn't need ...it want to look better.....and the front wi be made fun of untill a good fog lamp diy....goes on. gaurantee it will change every comment about the front. My Zo6and GTo both have them independant of the headlamps...and they make a much greater impression. Period. Its the little tasteful uselfull things that make a car. small mounted on the upper arch where the front plate would be onin states without front plates or why even bother if you have a plate. HIDs don't make good fog lights if you plan to use them in the fog. LOW power lights are better for fog. Less reflection.

Adding fog lamps wont make much of a difference at all - it'll just look like another Pep Boys special. Getting rid of the weird shark tooth grill might make a difference though. Theres no OEM place to fit them, and simply drilling and mounting them into the grill is going to look silly and cluttered.
You're one of those guys who drives around with his fog lamps on 24/7 just because you have them, don't you? Are there still people out there who think showing off their fog lamps all the time is a sign that they "splurged" and paid extra on their car, or that it makes it look distinguished somehow? Guys i've done it to every car that didn't...and done right aftermarket g=fogs might actualy complement the fangs......i
The front has a big viod......and the small lamps are a solution.. cheap, usefull and agressive. You are driving rice. so it in line with it. |

You shouldn't be so quick to assume what anyone is driving here . At 25 years old and with an M6 F-body making almost 400 WHP OFF the juice, with all the work done to it myself, I'm fairly sure I'm the wrong person to be slinging "rice" comments at. Hey look, my Silverado has fog lamps - how aggressive! Now people know I drive HARD in the fog.
As for you, you're coming off as the typical "Domestics Rule Imports Drool" guy that I run into far too often. And better yet, one that thinks fog lights (of ALL things) are "aggressive". Non-OEM fog lights just slapped into that front grill will be right up there with the quality of this fantastic example of a Corvette: Last edited by MightyBobo; 03-07-2009 at 08:04 AM. |

Alright guys, this is something that was asked in regards to the 350Z when it was first out. For a long time no one figured out a visually pleasing way to add fog lights, and the owner was certain he wanted it. It was a question of "how." The pictures I've seen on the net was flush mount fog light with the bumper. It was pretty nice. The other method was a couple of larger diameter fog lights hidden behind the grill.
Our best bet is to squeeze a small diameter set of fog lights. I don't have the 370Z yet, so I don't know what would fit. With the texture of the pseudo-duct, it may be best to fabricate a new panel that will allow the fog light to sit flush with the fangs. ”¹ EVO-R ”¹ HID Projector Foglights”¹

DIG - thats really my point, theres no way to "hide" them behind anything, so no matter what you're going to see them. Zpil0t wants these for nothing more than a look. Screw functionality, he just wants some attention (and is probably annoyed that Im calling him out on it).
Now, if theres someone who has a vested interest in fog lights because, god forbid, they live in the foggiest of foggy areas of the world, then go for it - I would never question someones need for safety. But when someone wants some fog lamps for an AGGRESSIVE look? They are FOG LIGHTS for gods sake! Rice, in the most minuscule, yet obvious way. Why not just get some of the big *** nerf bar lamps that Baja racers use? Those look pretty aggressive. |

I will be one of the DIY'ers installing Fogs so this is an important issue for me. We get bad fog here in the valley and Fogs can be necessity. As soon as i get my Z I'll be doing a write up. I'm already investigating possible options. This is not for looks though, in fact I feel that the less visible they are, the better.
again with this ****? Seriously is that necessary? Last edited by BanningZ; 03-07-2009 at 12:59 PM. |
