Rear 370Z Emblem Removal or Replacement?

I just got done detailing the Z, and I personally dislike the 370Z emblem as it is the only item on the car that sticks out as it does, therefor its time on the car might be drawing short. What are others going to do?

frost 02-28-2009 01:04 PM

I have the fairlady on my 350 now, and I'm sure will continue with the 370. It strikes a lot of conversation, and makes my car a proper lady :D

dad 02-28-2009 01:13 PM

I would remove every thing, Nissan, 370Z. Looks better with out that!

The issue with the front and rear Nissan emblems is that they are set into a molded depression that's about 1/8" deep. I've found a solid "Z" emblem, but they do not yet have it for the rear emblem.

frost 02-28-2009 01:20 PM

Do they also have guide holes?

I cannot view the area behind the fascia so I cannot tell, but there is full tape around the rear of each emblem so I am thinking there are probably no holes.

dad 02-28-2009 01:28 PM

Have you done this before, de-badged?

Yes.

AK370Z 02-28-2009 01:34 PM

I kinda like it. So, I voted "keeping it".

dad 02-28-2009 01:36 PM

Okay! Hair dryer , fishing line.

Just watch those microfiber towels around the emblem as they seem to like the threads.

frost 02-28-2009 01:37 PM

You don't even need the hair dryer if you're doing it in phoenix summer, just leave the car in the sun for a couple hours :D

Plan on removing the 370Z and Nissan. Replacing the Nissan with this once 370ZSource sells it:

I hope they sell it, it would look killer!

The 09 could be entirely different from the 350Z. I'd start with a little below medium, and judge from there. You don't want to heat damage your paint.
You could pm SoCal 370Z, and see if he removed his.

I used dental floss to remove the "370 Z" emblem by seesawing the floss through the emblem at the angle with least glue surface. The dental floss has wax which makes it easy to cut across the emblem’s glue and preventing it from scratching the paint. I also wet the floss with Goo Gone to make it even easier to slice it through the glue. Once the emblem is removed, I removed the bottom glue layer by slowly rolling off the glue with my finger or cotton towel from one end to the other end. Then I used Goo Gone to clean up whatever left over. This took me only 15 minutes. I have not tried to remove the “Nissan” emblem because it may have holes and waiting for the Z logo to replace it with. I hope this helps.

Yea i'm taking it off too

This site sells a black pearl 370z logo. Since my car is black i am thinking about putting it in the place of the 370z silver.

But as a detailer its one more weird thing in my way that towls stick to.

Im undecided right now wich is better.

I also want to replace the nissan hamburger with a black chrome/pearl Z.

TipsZ 05-15-2009 05:07 PM

Any update on a replacement for the REAR Nissan Hamburger?

molamann 05-15-2009 05:19 PM

^
Also waiting on a rear hamburger replacement to pull the trigger to replace both hamburgers and the 370Z emblem.

Musashi 05-15-2009 06:37 PM

I have been thinking about just removing 370, keeping the Z. I want to replace the nissan badges when something comes out also.

nizz23sd 05-15-2009 07:08 PM

i removed all the emblems, doors, fenders, hatch, front and rear bumpers,c pillars, side skirts, and mirrors on mine for this big project were working on..any guess?emblems..front and back dont have holes.i used a fishing line to start with and finished it with a gentle used of flat head and wallahh..just be really carefull not to scratch or dent ur paint and body. im currently working on installing my bnm short shifter with trust shift knob.its pain in the butt to take the stock knob off so i just decided to buy the whole shifter.

If you guys use goo gone to remove anything off the car, make sure you wash it and reseal that part with wax.

CWJ,
that looks really nice.
Did you reuse the "Z"? what kind of "foam tape" did you use?

is there anything else to use other than goo gone? something maybe not as abrasive?

i want to swap out my badge for the fairlady z one (yeah i'm a dork for the japanese car names), but i don't want to do any damage while i'm at it..

cwj370 05-24-2009 07:04 AM

Yes, I just reused the Z. I think its 3m auto tape. I actually like the car better without the Z, but I scratched the car with my fingernail, taking it off. So if you are going to remove any of the emblems use the fishing line and no nails!!!

Phimosis 05-24-2009 02:03 PM

I would like to Relace the front and rear hamburger with the same design, same size/shape that says "Datsun." Bring the old school back.....

Sounds like a photoshop is in order.

TipsZ 05-29-2009 09:59 PM

So does anyone know if there are any replacements for the rear Nissan hamburger yet? I replaced the front emblem with the 350z (z with 3 squares in the center portion of the Z), however, can not find an emblem that fits correctly for the rear Nissan hamburger.

cwj370 05-30-2009 08:58 AM

I've been waiting on The 370Z Source to get the new ones in that are on their web site. Anybody know when that will be?

Can someone Phoshop me a 370z with a front or rear hamburger with a Datsun logo?

desunaito 08-15-2009 12:19 PM

I want to pull the nissan emblems off, paint them black then reattach. What kind of adhesive to I need to use to stick the emblems back on?

That's something I pondered. My budy with a 240Z joked about it and was kinda surpised when I told him it was a cool idea. He started rooting through his parts drawers right away ;)

3M double sided tape. Servo tape from a hobby shop would work as well probably.... they have a clear thin one out now instead of the old school black/grey stuff.

You forgot a poll choice: Desire to remove or change is dumb.
