I agree the clear coats don't cut it. My car is well maintained with Meguiers NXT and a layer of carnuba over that. It is also garaged. A daily driver, it does sit outside during the day at work. The clear coat has bad acid rain etchings in it, that are hard to buff out even with the Porter cable and a good polish. My old Lexus SC300 never had this issue with the clear coat
