it will for older ipods. You need to buy an adapter to get it to charge. lots of places sell them including the apple store. There are rumers that 2010 will get an upgraded cable but there were rumors that the 09 G would too and it did not.

When you say older ipods, do you know of a list that will tell you which ones? I have an 80GB "classic" video one.
Shumby you should post a link for the cable adapters that are known to work for charging. |

After a minute of googling, I came across this:
Ridax first company to overprice iPhone 3G charging adapter - Engadget I own the latest Nano and I'm assuming it applies to nano also? |

I had a similar problem on my last car. The TSB above is 100% correct.
The Ridax unit will work. I'm pretty up to speed on all similar iPhone accessories, and from what I know, there is another one out there, just like the Ridax, and approx. the same cost +/- a few bucks.

I bought a Zen versus an iPod a year or so ago. Better sound and FM. Since the hookup is basically the same, is it safe to say the Zen by CreativeLabs will work?

I can't say with absolute certainty, but I highly doubt it will work. They run different OSes and I don't think there is a standardized control set across MP3 players.

Just a heads up, DO NOT buy the Scosche adapter! I don't know the technical term but there's like a constant LOUD "BBEEEEEEE" and you can't mask it unless you turn your volume ALL THE WAY UP. I'm gonna try and get a refund or a replacement if I got a defective one.

The difference in sound from an iPod v. Zune comes down to the internal parts. The DAC in the Zune is better, they have both been torn down and proven, but unless you carry around a portable amp with nice headphones you will never notice the difference.
Now in a car, with a good set of speakers, amp, etc., you might tell a difference but the sound stage would vary from car to car. Also it is relative to how your music is encoded, MP3 v. WMA v. FLAC v. AAC.
