Default GPS auto-On mod/hardwire?

Hello people,

So this is sort of because I am really lazy to turn ON my GPS, and I don't even really use it anymore heh, but I'm kinda interested in hardwiring it with the ignition so it turns on on its own... without having to press the on button. I'd have to open the GPS up and bypass the power button right? (and then hardwire it to the car)...

Has anyone tried this on a cheap old Tom Tom One?

does the tomtom turn on without touching the power button if you plugged it into the cigarette lighter while the car is on?

then it's easy. check out wat i did on modshack's dissappearing nav mount version2 thread. i did a few days ago.

It won't right.. (I mean, no it doesn't).. that was the purpose... else its always in the cig. lighter anyway.. I have to turn it on always...

I was meaning to bypass the switch by opening up the GPS unit itself, hah I just looked it has those start shaped screws, I dont even have the right screwdriver for it.. not sure if its worth the effort.

torx screws you mean? i see wat you want to do now. it is worth the effort cause i was running into my nuvi taking 15-30sec sometimes to find a satellite when i needed directions for alternate routes immediately.

now that it's constantly on while the car is on, no more issue.
