Default windows possessed

Just before closing today the heavens open up, raining like a hurricane, blowing sideways....... some of the hardest thunderstorm rain I have ever seen. Half hour later it quits and I go out to my car to go home. Immediately I notice both windows are down about 3 inches. Inside of the car is soaked, so I know they didn't just go down on approach to the car, as it has stopped raining, and I didn't remotely open the locks anyway. Now I am positive I had them all the way up this morning when I exited and locked the car. I am also pretty sure I didn't accidently hit the open button twice while the fob was in my pocket and I was walking away from the car, I would have had to also hold the button down after the second push, so reasonably certain this didn't happen either. Additionally, I did not go out for lunch, had meetings all day. I parked at the edge of the lot to avoid having anyone else next to me, so there is no way the fob could transmit that far, even if I accidently leaned on it or something while in the building, so I ruled that out. I did a search and only found the typical issues with re-sets after a battery disconnect. Just to be safe I just reset them anyway. Have any of you guys heard of this? Why would the car just drop the windows 3 inches like that? A lot of cars use the parking lot. Is it possible another Nissan might have the same code as my car? Battery has never been disconnected, so it is not that issue. I am stumped

Were they down lower than when the auto-lowering for door opening/closing engages? Could be the sensor for that is going out.

Yes, much lower than the normal auto-lowering for opening/closing.

Well i had an experience almost as strange. I had been working on my car stereo install in fact I still am. Anyway i had trouble with the windows not working correctly of course , so i did the reset thing worked perfectly. So i started the car went to car wash to spray her off wiped the car down and drove back nome. i parked it in the garage and went inside. I came out a few minurtes later and for some strange reason both windows were all the way down ?????? I never let my windows down ever ??? Oh well a ghost or just some delayed action.

Yea, I remember reading years back that the 350 also had some strange things happen from time to time with the windows that couldn't quite be explained......... like the computer sometimes has a mind of it's own. I know in my case today, people today were talking about the lighting during the storm being so close and so powerful, that you could feel the electricity, made the hair stand up on your body. This thing may have been a microburst....... makes me wonder if the close proximity of the lightening strikes could cause the computer to run the windows down.

Did you have your keys inside your pocket? Were you in proximity of the car? I think if you press on the "open" for a prolonged time, windows will go down..

You have to press open twice, then on the second press hold the button down for 2 seconds, and continue holding it down, then the windows roll down for as long as you continue to hold the button down, until they reach full open. My office is 150 feet away from where I was parked, so even if I accidently did the above, was still too far out of range.

Have you tested the range of the remote? It may surprise you at the distance. Not that this might of caused this incident, but it wouldn't hurt if you did a distance check to see if it was a possibility?

wow man, very interesting. I don't know how we can explain this one. However (I'm way to exhausted to try this outside right now) if I recall correctly, you don't need to press twice (as you've mentioned on first line). I thought it was single-press-n-hold ?

I'm always so nervous about accidentally pressing and holding the keyfob if it's raining outside. Nissan def should give us a way to disable it.

Not a bad idea, IMO. After my metallic window tint, my range for the fob has decreased. But before the tint, I had a crazy long range. I was able to lock/unlock car from very very far away! Just my

I Had both things happen to me! I thought I was just losing my mind!

The first was just like above story. I got home, It stormed overnight, came out next day to find my windows cracked ( well below door seal). I thought my dad had been driving my car and forgot, Because I would never forget to roll them up, esp with brand new Z! After I found out noone drove it, I just assumed I had to have somehow forgot.

Second situation was just a few days ago, got to apt, went in for about an hour or 2 then came out to leave and both windows were all the way down! WTF!? I never drive with both windows all the way down, always atleast up a bit. At this point I think I am losing my mind, finally I just say F trying to understand or rationalize it. I had no idea they would roll down via the fob, this could completely explain my situation.

It's good for about 30 feet right now........ might be time to replace the battery to get more distance, but as of today it won't work from the distances involved.
