IPAD mounted in Nismo
 

Mounted the Proclip. Instead of using screws to hold the swivl onto the proclip, I decided to use 3M heavy duty velcro. That way I could remove the whole swivl mount head when I don't need the ipad, leaving the clip mounted in the center console.

why in gods name would you want that abomination in your car.

Makes more sense to replace it over the stereo and utilize the null space of the cubby hole. A vertical recessed (flush) mount would look the best.

you have a nismo....why are you putting screens and stuff in it...should be putting on big oil coolers and brake cooling ducts.

Its a moot point, but maybe change the ipad background to have a Z logo or something. Or better yet, find an app that can measure acceleration and g-force... pocket dyno comes to mind. I don't know if they have an ipad version yet, but the iphone version should work. Personally, if I had a Nismo, I would be thinking about what other stuff could I live without instead of what I should put in.

Probably not the best idea to mount something this large in the front of your Z.

Hard cornering or sudden braking = Ipad going out the window or seriously injuring you.

i dont think ive put one negative comment on this forum, but im going to have to agree with everyone in here. if your going to install it, install it properly into the dash so it sits flush, dont mount it. looks very out of place. and you can wait to check your twitter or facebook when you get home. the last thing i need is a red nismo running into the back of my z because your playing with the ipad while driving. you have a nismo! install usefull parts on it and DRIVE the car!!! put the ipad in your home or office. just my 2 cents

As you all know Nismo don't have the Navi or bluetooth or hard drive storage. This is my Navi, bluetooth, and hard drive all in one. I don't want to modify any part of my car, so cubby hole is out of the question. With that said, a double din Navi unit is ouf of the question. With this mount, I could easily remove it when I want. Aslo there is plenty of room for the passenger.

By the way, I don't use the 3G service, so I don't twitter or facebook in the car. I only use it as Navi, bluetooth, and music player.

I'd be on this site while driving all day. That way I can yell at people on the road and online. Maybe I'd whip out my iphone and play some bejeweled while I'm at it. Love that game.

this ipad setup in nismo reminds me of maybe 5-6yrs ago when people were using their blackberry's to make calls. they looked like they were talking on large calculators. :D

Anyway, points for originality to the OP. I bet its rather useful to have that there to replace all those other gadgets. Honestly, I can't figure out a better way to set this up considering that he didnt want to modify the car at all. Its the best compromise.

Thanks for the kind words. I really did consider other options, but didn't find any. I've seen others mount the ipad right on top of the cubby hole door. That looked to me even worst. I really don't want to modify the Nismo since it is sort of a limited edition car. If Nissan gave me the option to get the Navi package in the Nismo, then I wouldn't have to deal with this. Also, the proclip is very secure. It's got double claws top and bottom of the center console. The swivl mount has three claws to hold the ipad.

I don't really know why the negative comments. I have seen so many posts about mounting portable navi with sucntion mounts on the Z's window, and replacing the current double din head with navi/DVD players. To me the suction mounts are much worst looking, and less secure. And the double din navi/DVD posts the same distraction as my ipad.

its not the fact that your mounting something

it is the fact that you are mounting something INCREDIBLY huge and ugly

its the fact that youre mounting more weight and electronics into the "Track" version of the car. If you wanted creature comforts maybe you should have gone with the touring version? That's all. Everyone gets to buy whatever car they want for whatever reason, just like everyone gets to give their dumb comments when you post about it on an internet forum. Some people will agree others wont, just gotta know how to deal with it.

From a design aspect, the ipad is far from ugly...it looks amazing actually. It's just out of place in this car, kind of like a stripper at church.

No hard shifting into 5th! You might slip off and punch a hole in that thing.

The car is strictly a show car. I don't plan to race it. The only time it would see a track is at the Pepsi 400 parade lap. Even though its a track car, I don't see why I can't have simple ammenities like bluetooth, or Navi. Also, the IPAD is only mounted on long trips or going somewhere new. Its not there all the time. Although I should use it more often. I am starting to like the music library.

I organize and attend a lot of car shows, so the portability aspect of the current setup is perfect for me.

i dont think you would win shows with an ipad mounted in a bad location..just my 2 cents :nutswinger:

I see where people are coming from, I would of liked to see like the wire hooked up to this and you placed it in cubby hole, or passenger seat just as like a thing to do so you can hide it or take it out....

Or get two of them and use it as your rear wing on your civic.
