I'm glad that they didn't do leather in the center on the touring seats, that bubbling effect would really piss me off. I personally didn't want to get the leather, but I really wanted the integrated factory nav, the only way to get that was to go with the touring model. I'm pretty happy with the finish of the seats, my only complaint is that the side bolsters on the backs are not adjustable. They start to dig in on your lats on a longer drive. They should have made them a little wider IMO. I feel like I'm not sitting in the seat, but being pushed forward from the sides. I'm 5-10" 182lbs athletic build. I will keep them for now, my body is starting to get used to them, but I love to drive and can see where they would be a problem for some longer road trips 200+ miles.

I love the leather/faux-suede seats.

My thought about why no suede on the G is because it's positioned as more of a luxury car than performance. In Japan the GT-R and Z are both known as Nissan's top performance cars. Both cars have the suede inserts. The G/Skyline is a sports coupe/sedan, hence full leather. |

Well, although the G is a sporty luxury car, I doubt that most people that buy a G (like my mom, no offense) would want suede on the seats. My mom would feel insulted for some reason. I can imagine that Nissan figured that sports cars should have the stickier performance seats, and the luxury cars should get the slicker full leather cushy seats.
It makes sense to me. (Remember, they are purpose built cars)

Meh... You can't put seat warmers in cloth.
Also, leather is a stronger material and IMO more refined.

Afaik the 'suede' centre section isn't real leather, it's fake/man-made. Isn't it? So will it catch fire?
'Suede' holds you better than leather, but that's irrelevant for me because the seat's side bolsters hold me comfortably - my seats are leather and I'm happy - maybe because I don't have a massive butt. ...as for the pics of the 'bubbling' G37 leather seat - it's clear that the driver had asymmetrical ar$e cheeks.

I think we're not understanding what the bubble was in the first place. The leather seperated from the backing. Maybe heat broke down the adhesive, could be a dozen different reasons.
Point being it has nothing to do with the leather seating, and everything to do with an adhered backing material. Don't conclude everythign is fine because the seating surface is faux suede. |
