JCC license plate lock (Osaka prefecture) J.C.C. ロック

So being my wife is Japanese we often take trips to Japan to see family. The last time we were there we went to the local police department and bought a bunch of license plate anti theft fasteners to bring back to the states for a friend that had built a 1976 Nissan Laurel 2000SGX\/\/\/\/

Only one fastener is used in Japan on the back plate, we ended up buying a lot more than we needed! If anyone is interested, please let me know I would love to share our おみやげ (souvenirs) from Japan. We are located in the bay area but could probably get away with mailing in an envelope. Here are some links to what they are, it kind of adds to the JDM look.

?????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

^^^The links are coming out kind of funky on my computer, but they are working. If they are not working for you please let me know and I will try to fix them, the characters are not English!

That's pretty dam cool man! I like it alot. I am not planning to take my car to NY anytime soon but I know they steal license plates a lot there. Heck, they stole my uncles plates in 15 minutes! I currently have hex nut so it's a little safer but not much.

Question, how do you take the license plate off if you need to change it?

I like this, but Im with AK, how can you remove them?

mjohn617 06-09-2010 12:35 AM

That is what I was asking my wife when we bought them. I really don't no! My wife was thinking that the police department might have a special tool to remove them. You don't have to add the insert to fill the hex, or maybe just use an adhesive on the backside. Then just pry it out if needed?

EDIT: My wife was watching me write this and said that there is an instruction on how to remove them. I can't look for it tonight and I will be busy all day tomorrow...let me do some homework and find out.

I just wanted them for the small detail that the true enthusiast will actually notice and appreciate. My wife said she has never heard of anyone actually stealing plates in Japan, it's kind of a security step to "keep honest people honest". We are actually in the San Francisco bay area....not much better than NY though!

OP, if you want to sell them, pm me the price. I think I'm interested. I am a gadget/tech guy.

They do that in Korea too but with a different type of screw. You cannot remove the license plates unless you go to their "DMV".

why dont you guys use rivits? lol

or move to a nicer area where people dont steal license plates. that's crazy...

It's just for a touch of JDM...the guy that I originally bought these for builds insane rides, and he does them with every detail in mind! These are just a small piece to add to that...thats pretty much it. You don't have to put the hex peice into the lock itself...just leave it out.

kenchan 06-10-2010 12:45 PM

it's a nice concept though of squishing the little metal ball to fill up the hex.
