Door locks going crazy....

hey everyone...

ive had this problem a couple months back.....and it eventually went away, but now it has come back and is acting up more than ever.... my door locks keep locking themselves over and over and over... it doesnt want to stop... ive already reseted my ecu twice and it doesnt want to stop... ive even disabled the auto lock feature (the 15mph autolock) but it locks itself even when im at a full stop.... what do you guys think is wrong with my locks? i know the dealer is gonna give me bs and wont warranty my car because i have uninstalled the handles and shot them black....

Hey Sim, the only thing I could think of might be one of the door lock switches is bad.

$0. It should be under warranty :). Unless dealer can tell that you took the door the handles off, I think you're safe.

If the dealer questions the handles tell them you are a master at masking stuff off before you paint. I don't think they will give you to much grief over it.

ok... if it doesnt stop actin up by the end of this week imma take her to the dealer next week :(

almost sounds like it's trying to lock but something is mechanically preventing it from latching all the way and tries to re-lock? did you mess with the lock mechanism at all when you were working on the doors?

id take the door panel apart and see if there is anything binding.

simota1 06-07-2010 04:26 PM

no i didnt mess with the door locking mechanism... i didnt even mess with the door panels when i took off the door handles...

lol... cuz i cant think of why else my door locks would start to act like the way they are

simota1 06-08-2010 07:54 AM

brought in my car to the dealer today... i was gonna wait till next week but my locks were going crazy for like ten minutes straight.... like lock... LOCK... LOCK!!!! freaking nuts... then when i was using the lock switch inside my car it wouldnt lock anymore.. i even ended up getting locked out my car luckily i was home so i grabbed my spare keys and took my keys outa the fobgina... i floored it to the dealership... and had them work on it... anyways THANK GOD the warranty covered it... the technician was kool about the painted door handles... the sales rep was tryna give me bull about how it broke my main door switch... after a couple of minutes debating with each other... me and the tech won LOL... so i get a new master switch  the tech mentioned to me that my master switch is grounding somewhere inside the switch because when he swapped out the switch with a new one from one of the 370z in the lot it stopped acting possessed lol :D
