Dot matrix behind the rearview mirror?

Does anyone know what the dot matrix behind the rearview mirror is made of? Is there metal in these dots? I'm looking to put a radar detector in the area between the rearview mirror and the headliner but am a bit worried that I will be handicapping my self and not realize it until that one time its to late.

You want the radar to be below the upper tinted strip on the windshield.

It's a super thin metal matrix, since it's the antenna for the radio..

Seriously? I would have never guessed that.

The radio "antenna" is part of the matrix in the hatch glass. There are no wires connecting to any part of the windshield - I know, I just had my windshield replaced. The matrix on the windshield is simply there to block the sun between the two visors. I have my detector mounted directly below the rear view mirror and the dots have never interfered with it's function at all.

Thats what I was thinking but had nothing to back up my thought process, thanks for the confirmation.

I ended up mounting the detector to the headliner right in front of the left mounting point for the passenger's sun visor using the Escort visor clip. It works great from there and is almost totally invisible unless your actually looking for it.

you also want the rear radar sensor to be in clear view of the rear window to get that "36-" effect.

Detector will work fine in the center...Dots are for glare reduction is all....Higher end cars have mini visors in that area..

In some car those dots are metallic and I don't know what the ones in the Z are made out of so I figured better safe than sorry as metal will interfere with RD operation.
