Relationship between window down and rattle gone.

I've been wondering this for quite some time now, but why do all the rattles disappear when windows go down? Does this indicate that the chassis and the body encounter added stress when the windows are up?

I'd be willing to bet that your door panel expands a bit when the window is down, tightening up anything that rattles.
