HELP! Tail Light Tint using Lamin-x
I need help. Is it just me, or was this tint not cut correctly?
I just got in these tail light tint overlay from LAMIN-X.com . I watched the instructional video online, read the paper directions provided, prepped and everything to the letter. And this is the result after 3 hours playing with this tint. Soo frustrating. At first i thought it was just me sucking since i've never done it before. I had a blow dryer, and a 2nd hand helping eventually which expanded the tint some. But looks like it won't even come close to covering the whole tail light. http://www.the370z.com/members/oo7me...evidence-2.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/oo7me...x-evidence.jpg I called the company during their business hours, and no one answered. 3 hours on 1 tail light! |
How far are the opposite ends of the overlay past the edge of the taillight? They look pretty far in the first pic, but its hard to tell.
I've only dealt with Lamin-x once, but the cutouts were spot on for the STi application. Hopefully they can get back to you... |
Here is another picture of the long side. But the tint doesn't cover the tail light at all sides. Its like they took the outline that is on the tail light and used that for their cut out. And while i was messing with it. I don't think they accounted for the bump on the clear part.

The shop I used is Artcraft check my sig link for info. Jeff is the owner you can ask for him and tell him that mike sent you about tail lights. He can explain the whole process in detail to you and can cut you a great deal. All the car clubs in the metro atlanta area send their cars to him for repair and customization work.
The process is very simple: you pull your tails and ship them to him after a day or two he will have them on their way back to you. The process is reverse able so dont worry about painting it. Jeff's shop is very reputable and I trust only his shop with all my work everything is top notch and jeff loves to talk to his customers. |
yeah tint film on our tailights looks hard to do, painted will look better and last longer

Sand Paper + VHT Night Shade + Clear Coat is the way to go. Takes a few hours to do and looks 1000x better then what im seeing in your pictures.
