Key cover
Odd question, but does anyone make a key protector like a cell phone cover for our keys? Or like what GM had? If they exist, I'd like a site where I can buy one.
Thanks, Anthony 40th 370z |
I'm not sure what you mean... picture of GM covers?
Here's one that I like Nissan 370Z Forum - arcticreaver's Album: Nissan Z FOB Protector (straight from Japan) http://www.the370z.com/members/arcti...cs-key-fob.jpg You can buy this from our vendors like 370ZTune |

Like the leather one but $100 is way too much

I have been using it since last year. The fit to key is perfect. For $7, It keeps the key from scatches and dings .

Key cover
I ordered one of the cheap covers. Shipped very fast. I ordered black. Its rubbery silicone. Nice product. However, the p/n in the above post is for a different fob then the Z uses. Order the correct one and be happy.

I got the yellow silicone one but ditched it because it's kind of a pain to take on and off. When you put the key into the fobgina to recharge it, obviously you gotta take it off.
I don't see the point really. |
cover
I remember reading in the owners manual that the port under the dash does not recharge the fob, and that the battery still needs to be replaced? If that's true, I'm not exactly sure what the port is for unless there's some tech gizmo that allows the car to still start without proximity due to the low battery in the fob.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I dont feel like looking it up in the manual right now. AEF |
The port is a backup. If the fob's battery dies while you are out you have the removable key to get into the car and the port to start you car. It does not recharge your battery.
