Roll Cage anyone??
So since I have my new racing seat and 5 point harness, I have been looking for the best/safest way to have my harness mounted. If you check out my thread on my review of the Status Racing seat and harness, you will see how it is attached already. I would like to have a street roll bar installed inorder to have the shoulder straps mounted correctly. This is the only thing I have found besides a custom fabrication from a local shop, its an AutoPower roll bar, http://autopowerindustries.com/rollbars.asp
Does anyone have a roll bar in their Z, or have aftermarket seats and harnesses and can post some pictures or DIY of what you did? Thanks, Jon |
I believe Outperformance Shop has a complete Autopower bolt in on their shop Nismo car.

Travis has a roll cage, though his car is gutted.

I need somethng too, my next mod is a Hans device
|
mine is a completely custom roll cage... not something that most folks are going to want to do... but if you have questions, fire away... there are lots of pics on my build thread linked below if you car to sift through however many pages it is now! :)

I wouldn't put a cage in daily driver..Do you plan on rollin around with a helmet on?

not just cool but they will save you from separating your brain from your spine in the event of front impact... when that happens, you die... here are some folks that would not be dead if they used HANS
* Roland Ratzenberger in 1994 San Marino Formula One Grand Prix * Indy 500 drivers Bill Vukovich and Tony Bettenhausen * NASCAR Adam Petty, Tony Roper, Kenny Irwin Jr., Neil Bonnett, John Nemechek, Dale Earnhardt, J. D. McDuffie and Clifford Allison * ARCA Blaise Alexander * CART Jovy Marcelo and Gonzalo Rodriguez |
Im not looking to do a complete cage, just a role bar with harness attachment points, if anyone can post up pics on this thread if they can find any or know any, not looking to do anything like travisjb's set up, just something that is suitable for a weekend driver as well as occasionaly novice-intermediate track events throughout the season.
thanks guys |
I have been thinking about doing a rollbar so when I go FI I can still go to some of the tracks I like because a couple if you break 12.9 or 115 mph you have to have a cage :(

roll bar
I am interested in the same ... I want a bar to install a 5 point harness correctly and for occasional trackday. Let me know if anyone has installed one as well!
|
Travis How much did your cage cost?
|
A cage like mine will cost between $2K and $5K, depending on the hourly rate, type of steel used (chro-mo will be more, thicker will be more), # of connect points, custom work, etc
|
We do some very nice, full custom cages in a lot of different race cars and track cars. We have done everything from 10 and 12 point full cages with DOM, chromoly, etc. all the way to a simple bolt-in harness bar.
I was thinking of producing a 370Z hoop/ harness bar that effectively will bolt into the car and then later can be removed.... if there is enough interest out there. |
