Help. Need to remove dash.
I think this qualifies as bonehead move of the year or at least of the month.
I was upgrading my speakers and after finishing the door speakers, I moved onto the tweeters. After removing the factory tweeter, I was putting the new speaker in position to see how fitment was. I then proceeded to drop the speaker into the hole and it dropped down into the dash someplace. I can't see it but I can hear it if I thump that dash. I need to know how to pull out the dash so I can retrieve the speaker. I searched around and couldn't find any instructions. Thanks. |

It's on the right side. I tried the magnet thing, but I can't even tell where the dumb thing went. I just came back from getting gas and the stupid thing kept taunting me. Everytime I went around a corner, I could hear it.
Another problem with using the magnet is the fact that the largest percentage of the speaker piece is plastic. The mounting bracket is all plastic. It will still probably work, but I'm fishing in the dark. Last edited by TreeSemdyZee; 05-08-2010 at 10:25 PM. |

You might checkout this link: Cabin Filter
It shows how you can take-off the glove box area (that is quite large) to expose a lot of what is behind the dash. Not hard to do, and you can add-in a cabin filter while you are at it! If you have an email address I can send you a PDF from the service manual regarding the dash removal. Or you can download the 370Z Service Manual

Thanks for the link. Visuals help me a lot.
I have the manual also, so hopefully I can get enough out to find the speaker. Meanwhile, I'm taking turns really hard hoping shake it out. |

once you get the glovebox out, there are only so many places it can go... you should have pretty good access to the areas above and around the glovebox... just be patient and use plenty of lighting

Thanks for the help guys. I took out the glove box and finally found the little rat bastage. It fell as far down as it could go and as far to the right as it could go. I held onto it with a death grip after that.
